[New Music] Rihanna X Breezy = Birthday Cake Remix

HAPPY 24th BIRTHDAY ROBYN RIHANNA FENTY!! Ya'll know that's my main chick in my head lol. Obviously the beef between Chris Brown and Rihanna has ceased as he wished her a happy birthday around midnight last night. It has been rumored that Breezy would be on her remix to "Birthday Cake" from Talk  That Talk and I have the link for you below!

The song is a little fast paced, I'm assuming because it's leaked rather than the actual version. But you can check it out below and let me know what you think! SN: I wonder how Breezy's girlfriend Karrueche feels about all this... last night she retweeted someone and said "Didn't give a f*ck yesterday, don't give a f*ck today, and I probably won't give a f*ck tomorrow" #chile lol

Welp I know the drama behind this will be surfacing with the quickness! *grabs popcorn and sips tea* #staytuned lol

[Throwback Thursday] The Best To Ever Do It

Before we go any further in this post, let me just get ya'll to focus on how breathtakingly beautiful THE Miss Whitney Houston looks in these two pictures above! I didn't know until after she passed that she modeled before she became the powerhouse singer that she was, but the reasons are so obvious! She was gorgeous!

You'd have to be living under a complete sheet of rock to have not heard the news of Whitney's passing, as she was found dead just the night before the Grammy's at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. I'm not here to go into the details of her death or any of that, I just wanted to show my respect for what I consider to be the biggest voice ever. I've never heard any other female who could hit the notes that she did and so gracefully. She never missed a beat or a note in her hayday, and no other voice could even begin to compare to hers.

Instead of doing a post of one of her old videos since I know they've been showing them on tv constantly this week, I decided to do a post on one of her old performances instead. That way we could actually see for ourselves just how great of a singer she was, not only on recorded songs but also live. Below you can find her Superbowl performance from 1991 as she sings the National Anthem like no one else could ever do. I don't think I've ever heard this sung in any better way!

Check the video out below, and make sure you keep Miss Houston's family, friends, and fans in your prayers! The industry and world have really lost a great thing in Whitney... she paved the way for so many other singers! RIP Whitney Houston... the best to ever do it!

2012 Grammy's Recap

I must say the Grammy's disappointed this year! Well actually they disappoint me usually every year now, but I still try to give them the benefit of the doubt and watch it anyway. Majority of my timeline was watching the Grammy's along with me, and let me just tell ya'll twitter makes the Grammy's ten times better than what they are! Talk about hilarious lol! Upon request by a few of my followers, I decided to give a quick run down of my thoughts on last night's awards show.

Well obviously the first two pics are the sole reason that I even wanted to watch in the first place! I LOVE ADELE AND RIHANNA!!! I was in stan overdrive last night lol. Both ladies looked gorgeous and glamorous on the red carpet, and both performed as well. Rihanna turned it up a notch with her performance showing how much she has grown throughout her career. The vocals have improved and she was giving us a little taste of her island girl dance moves... Now Rihanna ain't no Bey on the dance floor but she did her thing! I love seeing her perform because she has fun with it and doesn't take herself seriously... #girlcrush!! Rihanna also took home two Grammy's (Best Rap Collab & Best Rap Song) for her collaboration with Kanye' on "All of the Lights". Get it Rih! SN: The song she did with Coldplay was fire!

Adele on the other hand gave me straight chills automatically when she started singing. She performed "Rolling In The Deep" which was her first performance since she had surgery on her vocal chords. She did not disappoint at all! She makes singing so well look so easy. Last night Adele swept the board taking home six Grammys, all of which were well deserved! She is so humble, you can't help but love her!

On another note, Chris Brown also performed last night which makes this the first time he and Rihanna have attended the same award show since their incident in 2009. Chris did his usual thing of singing during the beginning, then went into his dance mode for the rest of the performance. I love to see him perform because he always gives his all. His set was dope and reminded me of the old game QBert! He performed my favorite song by him "Beautiful People", I was fist pumping away last night lol! Chris also took home the award for Best R&B Album and I was so happy! It feels good seeing him make a comeback after the world thought he never would. And I'm glad they weren't petty with it by focusing the camera between Rih and Chris all night.

Last but not least, I sat up waiting and waiting for the tribute to Whitney Houston and ended up mad! Don't get me wrong, Jenny Hud (I never call her by her real name anymore lol) did her thing with "I Will Always Love You" per usual but that's all we get for Whitney? Whitney paved the way for EVERY female singer that came after her so the tribute definitely should have been longer. I had heard that Chaka Khan was going to perform "I'm Every Woman"... That would've brought me to life!

Other than what I said above the awards were pretty bland. I won't go into details about the other performances, just wanted to list my favorites... but I really can't leave ya'll without mentioning Nicki. Let's just say homegirl lost a fan last night and by the looks of twitter there's plenty more where that came from. Idk who authorized that bs, why they did or when but they should be smacked! Nicki my dear, you have officially sold your soul to the industry obviously you'll do anything for the fame! It wasn't so much the performance that bothered me but that song was pure garbage #thatisall

I forgot to mention it but Bruno Mars did really well during his performance as well, but did ya'll see the look on his face when he lost to Adele?? #salty lol... Check out a few of the performances from last night below and feel free to comment with your thoughts!

[Fashion Files] Cleopatra Sweater Dress

Ciara was spotted out in West Hollywood last night for a Pre-Grammy celebration given by producer Tricky Stewart. She was rocking a Givenchy t-shirt dress which immediately put me in the mind of Rihanna and Kanye's Rottweiler shirt/sweater. According to Necole Bitchie, this dress is the same as the t-shirt Kanye wore for the Watch The Throne tour, except it's made differently.

I put together a similar look below using a Cleopatra sweater dress by Unique which I found at TopShop for $85. You can find lace up over the knee boots just about anywhere but I'm extremely picky with shoes and I couldn't find any online that I like. However I posted the Cleopatra dress below, and as I said you can pair that with any type of black boots of your choice and you'll be fly :)

Check out the dress below and give me your thoughts!

[New Video] Bad Girls- M.I.A.

Is MIA trying to take Rihanna's spot as the worldwide bad girl? I don't know and I don't care because I love it! MIA is one bad bish and not just by her looks and her style, but her music is beyond dope and so is her attitude! She just don't give a!  I know ya'll saw her flip the bird to the camera last night during Madonna's half time performance? MIA was the highlight of the show for me, when she stuck up her middle finger at the end of her verse it gave me life! I think I can relate to those artists who just don't care and have that "This is me hate it or love it I'm still me" type attitude.

I won't really go into talk about the Super Bowl half time show since I didn't really care for it, let's just skip the small talk and get right to MIA's new video for her new single "Bad Girls". Most of you remember her from her hit "Paper Planes", which received even more accreditation after some of the hottest rappers jumped on the remix. Well "Bad Girls" seems to be another guaranteed hit for the Sri Lankan beauty.

In her new video you can see her decked out in chains while posted up on top of a Beamer that's riding on two wheels. She is definitely giving us that bad girl vibe and I love it! I originally spotted the video at Necole Bitchie, and just wanted to repost it because I thought it was so hot! MIA is definitely a boss chic, and whether you think she is or not I don't think she quite cares lol... She did that!

Check out the video below as well as a few tweets from different celebrities giving MIA props on the new hit. SN: MIA is 36 years old!! Who knew?!? #bawse

Rihanna the Rockstar vs. Rihanna the Role Model

Ohhhh Rihanna! Lol I told ya'll I start every post about her with that phrase! Whether you smoke or not, you have to love this girl for always staying true to the real her and not pretending to be something she's not. Rihanna was recently vacationing in Hawaii, and was caught by the paps smoking what seems to be a blunt. Ever since these pics flooded the internet, Rihanna has been the face of much ridicule, but on the other hand some people respect her even more.

I've been reading different celebrity blogs and when I'm on different sites I ALWAYS read the comment section. They are hilarious! But at the same time you find that commenters can be very judgmental as well. Now I am a very open minded person, and I don't judge anyone... blame it on my Aquarius sign *shrugs*. So as I was reading the comments I noticed that people were saying that Rihanna shouldn't be doing this because she's a role model to kids etc etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are lots of young girls who do look up to Rihanna, but let's be real it's not her job to be a role model.

[Throwback Thursday] Mo To Tha, E To Tha!

So I just almost hyperventilated looking at old episodes of Moesha on youtube! OMG this was and still is my absoulte all time favorite show in the world right along with Sister Sister. When I lived in Virginia Beach back in '08, reruns of Moesha used to come on Noggin and I literally used to record each one every single day and go home and watch them. No matter how many times I had seen the reruns, I still watched Moesha every single day lol. At the time I was like 19 and you would think the show had just come out the way I was addicted to it.

I used to do the same with Sister Sister. It would come on every morning when I was getting ready for work and school in the past few years, and I would watch every single episode. These two shows were my abosulte favorites when I was younger, so when they started coming back on tv as reruns when I got older, I was estatic. Well now I'm back at square one because Moesha doesn't come on at all, and Sister Sister only comes on the gospel channel on Saturday mornings.

For #ThrowbackThursday I decided to do something different and post one of my favorite episodes of Moesha. In this episode she had snuck off to a pajama party with her friends and as usual she ended up getting caught. I swear Frank and Dee used to stay on Mo, she couldn't get away with SHAT! Lol and I love Kim and Neicy to pieces, they were so funny! There's also an appearance in this episode from a young Usher.. he was so cute!

Check out the full episode below, broken down into two parts. Did you used to be a big Moesha fan? And am I the only one STILL mad at how they just cut the show with a cliff hanger for an ending? #salty lol

[Fashion Files] Dress Like Draya

Call me crazy, but I just love Draya! When she first appeared on the scene, I had my doubts about her because of the stories centering around her leaving her son to fend for himself while she traveled. But after seeing her on Basketball Wives LA and following on twitter, the girl is a trip lol. It's really hard to not like her personality.

A week or two ago, she was spotted partying it up at Vanquish in ATL sporting magenta suede pumps, thigh high tights, a black leather mini, and a YSL t-shirt. As I was reading the blogs, I noticed that lots of people weren't feeling Draya's outfit at all but I actually thought it was fly! For some reason I love to wear black when I go out, and her black and white combo is hitting in my eyes! I love how she threw in the hot pink shoes, they set the total outfit off very well and added just the right amount of color needed.

Below I've pieced together a similar look which is probably much cheaper than what Draya is wearing. Of course you can find similiar pieces out there for even less than what I posted, this is just to give you a general idea of how to turn it into your own. You can check it out below and let me know what you think! Are you feeling this look?

Bossy Linx: Lala's Cosmetic Line & More

I try to steer away from posting constant celebrity gossip on here because this is far from a gossip blog. My main purpose was to focus on women in general as far as fashion, makeup, music etc. However, I do like to post different celebrity stories on here from time to time to keep you guys in the loop.

On that note, below there are a few links from some of my favorite bloggers with different pieces of info and gossip that I found interesting. I visit these sites regularly for my work entertainment and you might want to add them to your favorites as well. Check out the links below!

[Get The Look] Lala in Houndstooth Dress

Lala Anthony was recently spotted at the VH1 Divas' pre-show as the host of the red carpet for the evening. According to Necole Bitchie, she was rocking a Houndstooth dress by 23 year old Laquan Smith along with peep toe pumps. I really liked this dress, however I think Lala is a little too heavy up top for it. It takes away from her full shape. Below, you can check out two similar dresses that I found online at ASOS. These would make for great NYE dresses, bringing a little flare and versatility to the usual NYE look.

Check them out below!

[Throwback Thursday] Don't Push Me Away

No matter how crazy Chrissy is or how long Jim takes to actually marry her, I absolutely love these two as a couple! I love how he always stands by her even when she's wrong, but he can also put her in check when she gets out of pocket. I love how she rides for him regardless of any bs (including his mama drama), and how she always holds him down in every aspect.

I really wish they would just go ahead and get married, they have nothing to lose if they do! I don't know what it is with me and this ride or die mentality lol, but I love those type of relationships ie. Jim & Chrissy, Tiny & Tip, etc. I already did a #throwbackthursday post for the day, but I wanted to do this song as well because it's been stuck in my head all morning!

This song is one of my favorite songs of Jim Jones' of ALL time. It's just so sweet and makes my little heart melt lol. Someone told me that they think I have a "thing" for passionate thugs and they may just be right lol. Check out the second throwback of the day below after the break!

[Throwback Thursday] U Used To Love Me

Let me just emphasize the fact that I LOVE LOVE LOVE me some Faith Evans. If you thought I was a Beyonce' stan, you have no idea how I feel about Faith lol REALLY! I started out listening to her back when I was a little girl because my mom used to be a really big fan of hers when she first hit the music scene. I remember when her first song "U Used To Love Me" began to get radio play. I was enthralled by her voice! Then when the video to the single dropped, I was even more enthralled because her look was so sultry, yet you could tell she was very down to earth.

Since I've gotten older and acquired my own taste in music, I've bought every single one of her albums. I even went and bought her first album a second time on Amazon.com because I had lost the copy I originally had. I'm just a very big Faith Evans fan, and I even find myself standing up for her through never ending controversy between Biggie & Pac. I've also read her memoir of her life that came out back in 2008... probably like three times lol. Her book made me like her as a person even more than I do as an artist, because I could relate to many struggles that she went through in her life.

I'm always looking out for her to drop new music, and I remember reading that she was supposed to do a reality show awhile back but I haven't heard anything else about it. You can check out the #ThrowbackThursday video below, which features a cameo by her late husband Biggie!

Kyla Pratt Blogs About Her Daughter

Last night I was reading Necole Bitchie's blog and stumbled across a statement that Kyla Pratt had released concerning her one year old daughter, Lyric Kai. I'm not sure if you all knew this, but Kyla had a baby girl last year around this time by her boyfriend, Danny Kirkpatrick, and released this info publicly on 106 & Park a few weeks ago. Since then, she has been receiving lots of negativity from the media as well as the public. She decided to take to her tumblr page to respond to all the hate she has been getting lately.

Love In A Hopeless Place

Rihanna, Rihanna, Rihanna... she absolutely BROUGHT IT with her new video for "We Found Love"! I know I'm a few days behind on the post, but I can relate to this video so much that I knew my commentary would be long. This video gave me LIFE! Rihanna is doing her thing and paving her own way in the music industry. I love her F it attitude, her realness, her playful spirit, and her beauty! If you ask me, she's a legend in the making!

Anywho, let me hop of the Rihanna stan wagon real quick and focus on the video lol. It was epic! The visual and the storyline that she gave were undeniably real and raw. The depictions of the drugs throughout the video shows how toxic a relationship can be. That high from lust may feel good, but it's definitely not always good for you. Their relationship started off as something that looks sweet, innocent and fun; but soon turns destructive and becomes a downward spiral. As they become more and more addicted to each other (and depictions of drugs increase), the initial high of the relationship wears off. It's like they're trying to get that inital high back, so they can't let go of each other... kind of like an addict continues to use drugs in hopes of getting back that first high.

Throughtout the video, he becomes more and more aggresive, causing their relationship to become tumultuous. But yet, she can't let go. Boy have I been in this situation before! It's like you get in a relationship where everything is going perfectly, then as you get to know that person more and more you start to see them for what they really are and vice versa. No matter how bad things get, sometimes you just can't let go and you deal with the bad in hopes of one day getting the good back. I'm sure everyone has been in this type of relationship before, and it's SO unhealthy. But when you're in that situation you don't see it as such.

[Throwback Thursday] Who Do You Love?

Since Ladies Love Cool James was honored with the BET Hip Hop Lifetime Achievement Award this year, I decided to do a #throwbackthursday post for him! LL's influence on hip hop has been major, as he's not really a rapper but more like an mc. There are a few of his songs that I really love, but there's one in particular that is my absolute favorite. Some of his other hits that I've loved are "All I Have" with JLo, "Around the Way Girl", and "Love You Better".

Not only has he influenced hip hop over the past three decades, but he has also crossed over into the acting world making an impact on that as well. Remember he was on "In The House"?? And lets not forget about his movie roles including Deliver Us From Eva, SWAT, Deep Blue Sea, and Last Holiday just to name a few. LL is THAT dude! Not to mention that he's been with his wife since 1987 (I wasn't even born lol)... so he gets props from me for that alone!

See what my favorite song of his is and watch the video below!

BET Hip Hop Awards 2011

Now ya'll know it's only right that I do my commentary for the BET Hip Hop Awards from last night! I was all in the tv lol, I just love music! The hip hop awards are always one of my favorites, it's just something about seeing real men come together for one night, no beef or anything just all sharing a mutual love for the rap game.

First of all, they need to bring Mike Epps back as the host for next year because he was HILARIOUS lol. Can we get another Friday movie or a sequel to All About the Benjamins?? I'll be waiting :) Anywho, Jeezy and Tip were the opening act of the night and I was sooo hype about that! I love me some Tip, and I've been rooting for him through it all. I can't wait to see what he has in store for the game (with his fine self) lol, and Jeezy will ALWAYS be one of the realest to me... I'm just wondering can we get that TM103 some time this year??

There were plenty of memorable moments for the night, but I'll just speak on some of my favorites. Of course everyone mainly watches the hip hop awards for the cyphers. I was like sitting on the edge of my seat each time a cypher came up, ready to see who would be next to kill it. Chris Brown did the damn thing!! He repped VA and made me so proud to be from here. Naturally I'm going to say Meek Mill slayed as well, I'm a huge fan of his anyway. Joe Budden is such an asshole, but in such a sly way that you can't help but love what he has to say. There were plenty of others that I liked, but there's way too many to name lol. I did however pick up on a new artist that I'm about to start keeping up with, Nitty Scott. She could flow her tail off, and you know I have to support the female movement. Watch out Nicki! Lastly I have to shoutout Em on the cypher! What?! Eminem is a crazy lyricist and I mean that both literally and figuratively. I've always been a fan!

Now for the performances where must I start? I loved MMG's performance, again I'm a huge Meek Mill and Wale fan. I do wish they would've put my girl Teedra up there singing a hook or something, so she could get a little shine. Big Sean's performance was pretty dope, he and Roscoe Dash both have an amazing amount of energy when performing. DMX and Swizz Beatz did their thing! I was waiting for Eve to come out for a Ruff Ryders reunion, but beggars can't be choosers lol. I really felt Lupe's performance, the band was hot and his words were beautiful as always. I think he's so underrated, and I hate when people criticize his music because his different without even giving him a listen. And I KNEW from jump that was Erykah up there singing, I could tell by the eyes. SHE SLAYED! Last but not least, we can NOT forget about Heavy D! I swear I didn't think he still had those moves in him lol. He better do it!

To be honest, I don't really care about who gets the actual awards at all, because to me if you're not getting a Grammy, the award is pretty insignificant *shrugs*. I did however love the fact that Busta won the award for "Best 16 Bars" because I've been rocking with him since I was little in the early 90's. I also appreciated LL Cool J's acceptance speech for his honorary award. I'm not even going to tell ya'll what my favorite part of the whole show was (beside the cyphers), you'll have to check the video out below! Also check out a few pics from the show as well. Leave a comment and let us know what you loved the most about the awards!

[Throwback Thursday] How's It Going Down

This is hands down one of my favorite hip hop songs of ALL time! Everyone who knows me well should know that I'm Faith Evans' #1 fan (and I'm not exaggerating lol), and I love me some DMX as well. And if you don't believe that I stan for Faith lets just say I've read her book at least four times, and I have every single one of her albums. And no I didn't download her albums, I actually bought them. I went as far as buying her old albums on Amazon.com after realizing that I had lost two of them LOL. Yeah it's bad smh.

For the #ThrowbackThursday video, I just had to post this! This song was just one that will never get old to me. I have it on my itunes as well as on some old mix cd's. DMX is probably one of the best rappers of our time, but because of his criminal record he can't be as big as he should. I think he's back out of jail and supposedly working on new music, we can only hope that he gets it together this time! As for Faith, I haven't heard much about her lately but around this time last year she was supposed to be gearing up for a reality show. I hope that happens so I can take my stanning into overdrive LOL jk :)

Where does this song take you back to? Leave a comment and let us know if this was your jam as much as it was/is mine!

SN: I love when rappers make love songs... We don't get that as much as we used to, but there's still a few around... Wale, J Cole, Lupe, Drake, etc. Can you think of any more?
XOXO,

[Item Of The Day] Kardashian Kollection Manhattan Boots

Now ya'll know the Kardashians have become a serious household name, and as much as these girls (except Khloe) annoy me I have to give credit where credit is due! These boss chics have become a brand and it doesn't look like they'll be going anywhere any time soon! I'm sure most of you already knew that they have come out with their own collection for women, called the Kardashian Kollection, which is sold in your local Sears department stores.
I got a chance to look at the collection firsthand the other day in my city, and I must say that I'm impressed! The pieces are very well put together, they're chic, and BOSSY! However, the prices definitely aren't Sears prices LOL. I did find a cute pair of boots on the website that I thought you ladies might like. They're called the "Manhattan Boots" and they're only $69.99. They have a 5 inch heel and 1 inch platform which is right up my alley. You can click the link here to order those. Check them out below and let me know what you think!

SN: On this day October 5, 2011, I confess that I am officially a shoe whore! LOL
