Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 15

Wednesday, June 15

Ok, so I was supposed to be posting up my previous Diaries.. *I KNOW, I KNOW Don't be mad I had a stressful week. I needed to recover. * I will post them soon, so you can catch up my friend! Today I am GREAT. As I type to you guys about my workout.. I am trying to compose myself. Why?I am watching R. Kelly: The Light It Up Tour.#enoughsaid, right? OMG, this man, I have been a fan for too long, I been a fan when I shouldn't have been a fan, you feel me!? But from a very young age *no pun intended* I was captivated by his voice, his music. Whew, I think I just burned 500 calories, from thinking about it. Who can top this man? He is a musical genius. His talent can captivate anyone. If you aren't a fan, who have you been listening to...Trey Songz???

This morning I started off being very productive. I did some intern work and I popped my Vanilla Slim Fast Shake. Ok, let me explain it wasn't a Slim Fast it was an imitation, it was EQUATE! from Wal Mart!! Don't Judge ME!! Anyway, after I drank that , yumm and it was so delish, I ate some Special K! Red Berries cereal! I finished doing intern things and then after I left that, I ran some more errands and I had time to stop and get the REAL SLIM FAST because I had finished my equate!

At about 3:30 I went to the track! Walking gets me so excited! I can't tell if I am losing, but I have to be losing something because mentally and physically I feel light. I feel inspired, and energetic, and I imagine myself transforming into something even more beautiful than I already am! That's what you have to do! I was switching my pandora around again, listening to R & B and Gospel, but so what? The music that I was listening to was pumping me up and helping me feel good and optimistic. "Encourage Yourself" came on Donald Lawrence radio station, and that helped a lot. You do have to encourage yourself. You have to visualize what you want to do in life, you have to create your future, write it out, meditate on it, Trust God with it, and watch him give you the necessary resources you need to implement the changes! I can see myself in the future. I am getting rid of my careless eating lifestyle, and in turn, I am going to still enjoy the foods I like, but I am going to be a little more open to trying out healthier cuisines for myself! I am falling in love "all over" again with myself! :)

Later, I made Dominique cheeseburgers and French Fries, and it did not even look appealing to me. I baked my chicken tenderloins, almost mechanically at this point, and prepared a side salad!

I also drank 3 bottles of water! Remember, if you drink at least 3 16oz bottles that is 8 glasses a day! I am trying to stick with that also! I haven't had a Mountain Dew, and I haven't relapsed! "ITS A MIRACLE!"

Well, R. Kelly has gone off now! I mentioned via twitter after I worked off a sweat, that I was going to need some 12 play! I had walked from 3:30 to 5:45 that has to be like 30 miles I walked. :)Kidding! Dominique suggested that I be harder on my body starting tomorrow. I am going to do the boot camp ON DEMAND and see what that does!

Check out my playlist again, if you need suggestion while walking:

Toni Braxton

Brian McKnight

Donald Lawrence

Serani

R.Kelly

Paul Morton

Definitely wasn't no Trey Songz on my playlist! *Sorry Ladies* But I am LOYAL to the R.

:) Any suggestions on any simple workouts????

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 7

Written Wednesday, June 8

Today I feel a lot better!! Way Better! Not completely back to myself, but close enough. I ran out of Slim Fast!! I had a lot of errands to run too so there was no way for me to stop and re-up on my "work" :). Instead though, I drank 4 Bottles of water, ate almonds, as I completed some intern work. I met up with the lady at Barnes & Noble, for a fashion show venue. It's going to be nice, and I'll give you more info on that LATER. After hours there, I ran some more errands and close to the evening, I stopped at the store to buy some chicken legs. I re-upped on my slim fast, but decided to hold off until the next morning for breakfast. I got home and I was pooped. All work, and no play. That has to be some calories burned up there, right?

I realized today, that all I eat is chicken. (No I KNEW THIS A LONG TIME AGO) But, I mean really! Besides the junk that I eat, all I eat is chicken. I don't eat fish, except for shirimp and crab legs, and I only eat that rarely! I was running out of healthy things to eat, well the things that I like consists of the same things! I was going to have to spice it up quick before I got discouraged! I looked around, and suddenly I knew what to do.

I fried 4 pieces of chicken for Dominique, and then I made a pasta salad with the wheat noodles that I had. Except, I did it really different. Instead of the Italian dressing, I had some italian seasoning left over from a recipe that I NEVER tried! lol. I put that lightly over the noodles once cooked, and I sturred the rest of the noodles with a basil paste that I had. I cut up tomatoes and olives inside and then I sauteed my squash and zucchini and cut it up inside the pasta. I let the pasta cool in the fridge. Next I baked my chicken seasoning it with spike, some more of that basil that I had and pepper. I also opened up a can of Fresh Cut Green Beans and let them boil. Since everything was pretty much done before my chicken, I made Dominiques plate first. It looked delicious! I sprinkled parmesan cheese lightly over the pasta salad. I added salt and pepper to m green beans for flavoring. I wanted to try his, and he acted like it was the best thing since sliced bread! (I DO THIS!) I held out, because I couldnt wait to try mine, the remix. When it was time for my chicken to come out, it was so tender falling off the bone! I made my plate all fancy and pretty!! It was delicious. Greens, are very good for you! Remember that! I switched it up a little bit. Now I am unsure of how the pasta fits into my diet, but the squash, zucchini, and wheat noodles have to make up for something right??? RIGHT!

I didn't do much exercise, but I was feeling good! I was feeling great! I also drink water with my meal!

Want to do what I did??? Great, it's simple:

  1. Get you a pack of chicken legs. (I got it with the skin on)

  2. Wash the chicken legs really good.

  3. Preheat the oven at 350 Degrees.

  4. Season them with whatever seasoning floats your boat. Lemon pepper is really good.

  5. I seasoned mine with Spike! and pepper and basil in a jar.

  6. I personally wrap my chicken up in aluminum foil, twice. That keeps the juices tightly secured so that it starts to marinate in its own juices.

  7. Place the chicken on a pan in an oven and let cook for about an hour and thirty. Or until tender like you like it.

Pasta Salad:

  • Get you wheat Pasta noodles. The crinkly kind, not the spaghetti kind!

  • Get a pack of Italian Seasoning. NOT THE ITALIAN DRESSING

  • Boil The Noodles, adding a pinch of salt for tenderness. Boil for 15 min, or until noodles are done.

  • Drain Noodles, Wash Noodles, Drain Noodles.

  • Add whatever veggies you like: Green Pepper, cucumber, tomato, asparagus. You Like it? Throw it in!

  • Get the Basil paste in a jar. Add about Two tablespoons and stir and coat the noodles in it. Do that until you like the flavor. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, lightly, and don't use all of it. We are trying to be healthy after all.

  • Sprinkle Parmesan cheese lightly over the top if you like!

  • Let cool inside fridge, or if you like it the way it is go for it.

Green Beans: I prefer french cut or fresh cut when I make them. (That is, opening up the can and putting them in the pan)

  • Add salt, and pepper.

  • Keep on stove until nice and hot for you!

Whew! Now I need a drink!

Muah:)

Do You Stay Prepped for the Paps?

Modern day technology allows us to keep up with our favorite celebrities like never before with the use of blogs and social networks. Since I'm always up on my celebrity gossip, this is something that I've grown to love. But on the other hand it has also become a growing pain. If you pay attention to blogs and pics of celebrities taken by the paparazzi, they are usually always on point. I mean from head to toe celebrity women step out without a hair out of place. This makes me wonder how many women actually take time to put on makeup and dress up every morning?

Back when I was reading Steve Harvey's book Straight Talk No Chaser, I remember him saying something about single women needing to dress up every day in case someone else is looking better. He said that women always needed to look their best when they leave the house if they're single, in case they run into a man who is a potential candidate for a partner. If you're looking good then there's no chance that he will be more physically attracted to someone else over you (we all know men think with their eyes first). Now I can see where he's coming from, but he's saying we need to dress up and look decent every where we go. I'm the type that will run to the store with my hair still wrapped and in sweats if I feel like it. And let me just tell you it seems like I get more compliments when I look a mess than when I look decent lol. I'm all for looking good for myself or looking good for a date and what not, and for the most part I do put together an outfit everyday. But when it comes down to making myself up to look nice just for potential men to notice men then I'm good.

I do know that lots of women wear makeup and dress up on a day to day basis though. I've never really been into makeup at all, but I've gotten better about wearing eye liner and mascara here and there to spice things up. Anything else in the makeup department is a no go for me unless it's a pretty lipstick or lip gloss. I've also realized that my definition of dressing up is different from others'. I consider it to mean wearing heels, you know a date material type outfit. I'll pull those out every now and then if I'm feeling myself that day, but for the most part I like to keep it simple (until the weekend lol).

Do you feel like single women need to look up to par on a daily basis so they won't miss out on the opportunity to "catch a man"? Do you dress up or wear makeup on a daily basis? There are a few people that I know who do, and I find myself looking forward to seeing what they're gonna wear every day... I love seeing how different people take pieces of fashion and make them their own. Leave us your thoughts below and check out a few paparazzi pics of some of the hottest celebrity women looking their best after the break!

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 4

Written Sunday June 5

Well last night was sooo fun!!! I do love the "sauce" so I am unsure how well that coincided with my body but OHHHHH WELLLLL!!!!!!! Today was a good day. I woke up and popped open my Vanilla Slim Fast Shake!! My daddy made breakfast and "taught" me how to scoop up the nasty part of a Nasty egg and eat it.. yeahhhh idk if I am going to be eating that though. I am just now starting to try and appreciate scrambled eggs, so I need to take it slow. He also made bacon and he cut up potatoes and fried them. Yummmm, my Daddy is such the Chef!! lol I guess my mouth was watering(not really i was good) but he made me a small portion of everything and a half a strip of bacon and told me I was good. *he is after all, an unofficial trainer* SO I ATE THAT!!!!!! Afterwards I just chilled around the house. We actually left early from our hometown, ha, and if you know us, pahahahaha thats a joke to say we leaving earlY!!! hEe hee! I hadnt ate anything at that point and to be honest I was starving! I am so serious! I was starving.. if they wouldve bought anything fattening to my face, I probably would've ate it. But I didn't I opened up my second Slim Fast Shake, strawberry!!! Then I stopped at Mcdonalds again and ordered a Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad, WITH BALSAMIC DRESSING :) Yummy!!! Then it was time for the road!! I was good on the road, I drunk a bottle of water, and when we got home after three hours, I went to Wendys and ate another side salad. I missed my cousins after after party cookout! But it was a probably a good thing. All of those different foods .. I didn't need it. I came home, and Dominique spotted me while I did 30 crunches. He ate a pizza from Lil' Caesars. He had some buddies stop by and I offered them pizza. Dominique was looking at me like I was crazy!! But i was strategizing. See I know he would probably only eat 4 slices! Then there would be 4 left, and I was not about to get tempted! Lol. I had to do what i had to do to get those things outta there!! But I was really tired by the end of the night so I called it in early. Feeling very proud of myself. Tomorrow, I promised to go walking before my intern meeting and to also cook! (pahaha its been so long since i've done that it seems)

Alls well that ends well :)

Anyway it's Monday again and I almost put myself in a bad mood this morning b/c I didn't want to get out the bed lol. However I ended up turning on the radio while getting ready for work which put me in a good mood. You know radio personalities are always joking around and acting a fool, so it's definitely a good way to start a long day.

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 3

My Cousin Graduated From Magna Vista High C/O 2'11!!Saturday, June 4

My cousin graduated High School Today!! Gooooooo Cousin!! I was so proud of her. Actually, I had plan to go to Martinsville that weekend for the graduation, and then I thought about my budget! I had decided early that I was going to have to pass. But it was bothering me so bad!! I weighed out my options and sacrificed. On a limb, me and Dominique were hitting the road at 9:30. I may miss the graduation, but I wouldn't miss the family time that followed! !!! I was going to make it just in time for us to go out to eat! Only, I would have to be selective about what I ate. That was fine! Grabbed my Slim Fasts for my temporary vacay and my blueberries!

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 2

WRITTEN FRIDAY, JUNE 3

Soooo today I was super duper hype about the diet. I could feel myself slimming down already!! (state of mind, guys lol) I was ready, I woke up went downstairs, popped the top on my strawberry Slim Fast Shake, and sipped!! To my surprise, Dominique wanted me to make him breakfast.(was that a joke?) To my advantage though, whenever it comes to me scrambling eggs, he is always over me, "teaching" me the right way to do them. Eventually he took over (as he always do) and that was a good thing. I didn't need to be tempted that early. But dig this, THEN he started throwing the ham, salt, pepper in the eggs, smh. THEN he went as far as to fry some red hots!!! Toasted the bread, spread light mustard on it, by the time he finished. I was shaking!! Ha Ha! But I held on. He offered me a forkful of eggs, but I turned them down PROUDLY!! Team A. Bad Boss!!!
Now at work that was a different story, lets not forget to mention that I had something irritate the mess out of me before getting to work. Well, at work we have a lovely lady that always spoils us with the best sweets and finger foods ever from various places in Richmond. As a side note, I am a sucker for Snicker bars and chocolate chip cookies. And she ain't brought us no goodies in about two weeks , now she want to show out! *The Devil, The Devil* but I prevailed, until Amy, my diet partner, opened the box up and acted like she was going to pass out. She says, "I don't think half a cookie will hurt, I'll split it with you." It was like I had no will power. I was like, "Okay girl!" lol and then she was like. "Nah, it's not worth it. Let's break a piece off and see." And we did. Umm.. it was so delicious to me, but Amy made a face. She was like, "Oh this isn't worth it, and threw it in the trash." I was in heaven. I was lying like a MUGGGG, when I told her, "You right!" and threw mine in the trash too! Ha Ha.. what??? (IM HUMAN! and most times when you are irritable you eat..Sweets) So I grabbed some blueberries and worked until break time.I called my Daddy (unofficial trainer) and he happened to be talking to another (official trainer). I was drinking my Second Shake (Vanilla this time) and thinking of a good snack to go with it. I couldn't tell if I was hungry, or if it was just in my mind. I have noticed that this is much like an addiction. You have to really take baby steps. I have been used to eating so much CRAP, basically, whatever it is that I want with no reserve, that it was truly a transition taking into account this healthy ish. But my Daddy suggested a side salad from McDonalds with a Balsamic vinaIgrette. I ordered, and ate. Oh My God!!! Where has Balsamic dressing been all my life? The salad was sooooo good! I got extra motivated! Not only that, the official personal trainer, that was in the background all in me and my Daddy's conversation told me EXACTLY what I needed to hear. That was: "You want to lose your stomach in 19 days, you need to listen carefully. Blueberries, Strawberries, raspberries, apples and oranges are stomach killers." Yep, but I had ate 10 blueberries, and she told me that was all the blueberries i needed for the day. *I didn't quite get that, but oh well.* I went back to work with my bottle of water and was happy!!!
That night, I had dinner at Applebees. I am telling you, normally when I go to the 'bees its for the "Sauce"(alcohol)and some junk food.(hot wings) Of course, Dominique ordered wings, and a beer, that was extremely HARD TO WATCH, and this is no lie, the hot wings had never looked better! But you know what, I prevailed. Boy, did I prevail. I ordered a grilled chicken, some mexican rice (which may or may not have been good for me) and some steamed vegetable. ( squash, zucchini, broccoli) I was satisfied WITH a good ol' water!! MY DADDY TOLD ME ASPARAGUS WOULDVE SET THIS OFF. According to him, it is a good fat burner. If he tell me one more time, that you can smell the asparagus when you pee.. im going to puke! LOL. ALSO, did you know watermelon burns fat too! The personal trainer told me that It certainly does, but I should stay away from it for now. *Why, I don't know. Do you?*
It filled me up, I was so PROUD OF MYSELF, and according to Applebees it was under 500 calories! Yeah, it was the second night. And your girl made it:)
Boss Chic Bout' Her Business!!

I would write more but I have a pain in my leg that's killing me!! My cousin graduates High School tomorrow. Congrats C/o 2011.

Boss Chic Diaries: In Need of a Quick Fix :) DAY 1

Soooo I am planning a trip to Miami with one of my fellow boss chics, BossLadiT. We have known about this trip for a year, and we only have 20 days until we depart!!!! I can not even explain how excited I am!! Fun, Sun, Drinks, Party, Sleep, eye candy, pool, bathing suits---Bathing Suits??? Yeahhhh, so I was supposed to lose weight 5 years ago! *runs and hide* and especially since the holidays, so that I could be well prepared for this trip. I envisioned me running to the pool, two-piece in tow, feeling like the boss chic I am. Now, dont get me wrong, I am SOOOO confident in myself, that it does not matter what the end result is, I will still go feeling bossy and beautiful.(it's in my genes) But, I set a goal and I need to for once not PROCRASTINATE. Well, since being Bossy is all about empowerment and self-fulfillment, nothing would be better to me right now then to lose a couple of pounds and say I actually did something and see some RESULTS!! However, I only have 20 days :( smh. So you know what I did, I consulted in two personal trainers. Amy (official personal trainer) and my Daddy(unofficial personal trainer) and as you can imagine, dieting in the way that I should, wont do much to me for Miami especially my stomach, the main thing I'm trying to kill. Are you serious? I couldn't stand to hear that yatta yatta, I had a trip to go to soon. I guess Amy got tired of me B******G and offered a quick fix for me. A STRICT SLIM FAST DIET! Um hum... I know, I know.

"Well what does this slim fast diet consist of?" That was my response lol. What? I like to EAT! But Amy proceeded to tell me that if I wanted to SEE some results I would have to commit to this SLIM FAST DIET, 2 Slim Fast shakes one for breakfast one for lunch, and commit to having a 500 calorie or less meal at night. NO ALCOHOL. But, I got her to approve 1 glass of wine a week. (This Boss Chic sips) I would also have to drink PLENTY of water, and do some vigorous exercise throwing healthy snacks in between. *rolls eyes*

So after I thought for about half a minute, I asked myself "what choice do i have?" It's me, and its Miami and I didn't have another choice. So I accepted the challenge! I actually got really excited about it. Amy agreed to do it with me for moral support. The great thing is, I haven't done any grocery shopping so I wont be tempted! So let's see :
