Behind the Music: Missy Elliott

Last night the new season of VH1's Behind the Music kicked off with a special on Missy Elliott. I have ALWAYS been a fan of Missy's since day one. Missy did major things in the music industry, as she was and still is one of the most innovative producers/artists out there. From the first time she stepped foot in the game with "Supa Dupa Fly" and all throughout her career, she has done the most diverse and creative concepts ever. I remember always waiting to see what her newest video would be like, or trying to decipher what her songs meant backwards lol. Not only were all her songs hits, but she is one of the reasons Aaliyah, Ciara, Monica and others' became so successful as she helped take their careers to the next level.
I watched the premiere last night and it was definitely one of the best I have seen thus far! To hear what Missy went through in her lifetime and to see where she is now, it's amazing. It's definitely inspiring. Just to name a few, for one she was sexually abused by one of her cousins almost daily as a young child. Her father was also abusive to her mother, and her mother is shown recalling how they had no running water because they had no bathroom in their home back then. She overcame all those obstacles and STILL made it. Even after her career, she found out she had Graves Disease which caused her to have rapid weight loss, changes in the appearance of her eyes, as well as other major symptoms. She went through so much to get where she is, and I have nothing but the utmost respect for her. I love how she changed music and I can't wait for her to come back with some hits! She makes me proud to be from VA :)
Check below for the full episode of her Behind the Music to get the full story of her journey through life. It also covers the friendship between herself, Timberland, and Aaliyah and features stories from Mary J Blige, Missy's mother, Ciara, and more. It's a must see!

I'm Gonna Take My Clothes Off!

"THIS. IS. MY. JAM!!" *New New voice* Lol but really though I LOVE this song, even to this day! Let this come on the radio and I immediately go into party mode in the car. Nelly's "Hot In Here" dropped around the summer of 2002, and it was an immediate banger. The video was hot, the song was hot, and Nelly was hot! Plus I watched videos so much back then I had developed my idea of which video girls were my favorites, and the main girl in this video was one of them LOL #childish. I mean, being in videos (with my clothes on lol) was my dream side job when I was little haha DON'T JUDGE ME!!

What memories does this song bring back for you? Don't you miss the old days in music!! *sad face*

It's A Thin Line... B/t Friends & Associates

How often do we see certain women hanging with a specific crew and you wonder when they became friends? Or you see someone with a different clique in each of their facebook albums?? lol but I'm serious! One of the things that irritates me more than anything else, is when someone claims to be friends with every Ashley, Brittany, and Jennifer (the most general names I could think of lol). I can never understand how anyone can put trust in more than one group of friends, and I never will. If you ask me it's in the way and it's a certified way to keep drama in your life.

Think about it like this, if you're constantly running with different crews, who will trust you? I'm thinking no one in their right mind would. For all we know you could be going back and forth between different friends, telling different things and putting everyone out there. It's easy to repeat what you hear to someone that you hang with and think you can trust. So it's easy to slip and tell Nicki from your weekend crew that Keisha from your main crew is cheating on her boyfriend with someone else. Then when Nicki tells the other people in her crew (people that you might not necessarily trust) and it gets out that Nicki told it, then guess who Keisha's gonna be mad at? Yep it would be you because she'll KNOW you put her business out there because you're the only person she talks to that hangs with Nicki. Hotmess.com

On top of that you could also be putting yourself out there by hanging with different people all the time. I know how quick we all are to say that someone isn't our friend but just an associate, but really how thin is the line between associates and friends? If you try to make a point that someone is ONLY an associate, then stop carrying them like a friend. Far too often do I see women validating their reasons for hanging with a certain person by saying "they're only an associate". Yet at the same time, they tell this person their own business and they hang with this person regularly. No my dear, that is not an associate that is a friend. If you don't want to give someone the friend title in your life, then don't carry them as a friend! Point. Blank.

I had to learn the hard way that you honestly cannot trust everyone. As much as you like to believe that everyone is a friend and they have your best interest at heart, they don't. Plain and simple. Women can be very vindictive and if you don't associate yourself with REAL people who mean you well, then you will get screwed over time and time again in life. Believe it or not, people do have ulterior motives at times so be careful who you choose to spend your time and energy with. You never know which one of your "associates" could be trying to get your man, take your job, or bring you down just because. This leads me to ask are associates even necessary in life?? Let us know what you think!

Jagged Edge Is Back

I don't think I know a single soul on this Earth who listens to R&B but dislikes Jagged Edge! Back in the 90's R&B groups were majorly in, and Jagged Edge was amongst the hottest groups of the decade. They make that good old school love music that you just can't get enough of. And just when we thought male groups were dead and gone, they come back with another hit! They just dropped their new album "The Remedy" this past Tuesday June 21st which I plan to buy some time or another this weekend. You can check out the video for their new single  "Flow Through My Veins" above. I love how they still bring it soulfully with no gimmicks or anything extra. Do you think their comeback be successful??

Also check out the #ThrowbackThursday video for this week featuring none other than Jagged Edge. Since we're still doing the summer throwback every week, this one is nothing less than perfect! It dropped back in 2001, and it was definitely one of the summer anthems that year... Click below to see what it is!

SN: Jill Scott's new album "The Light of the Sun" dropped the same day as JE's... From what I hear, it's full of grown and sexy music with that Jill Scott twist! I'm definitely coppin that as well.

Feathered Earrings

As we all know, Jennifer Williams and Evelyn Lozado from Basketball Wives stay rocking fly ear pieces! And I say ear pieces simply because these just can't be called earrings lol... I've never been one to experiment with different earrings other than different shapes and sizes of hoops. I live for big earrings, even if they do hurt my ears... It's an addiction! I think I want to start playing around with more diverse ear pieces like the ones Jennifer wears. She always has on dope earrings with feathers in them, which inspired this post. I also love how she always make her ear pieces work with all of her outfits. You know how sometimes certain earrings aren't meant for certain outfits? Like church/ballroom earrings with jeans and a graphic tee lol, that's just not hot! But Jen always seems to make hers work for her. Below I've listed some really cute feathered earrings that I found online. They're really inexpensive so if you're looking to try something new, this is a start!

Positive Monday!

Happy Monday bosses and boss chics! I had a really eventful weekend and I'm still recouping from that today. I got to spend time with the people I care about most and did things that I love to do. Also on Saturday my "little sister from another mother" Meyonka graduated from high school. I'm so proud of her! And on top of that, she's getting out of this small city and going to Norfolk State in the fall. Seeing people who are younger than me yet still driven and headstrong makes me happy! Afterwards I went to her cookout and ate everything you could imagine! (If you read my bio on here, one of my hobbies is eating LOL)...

Yesterday I got up for church at the very last minute. I had no plans of going but I just kept getting dressed anyway, hoping I would make it but not really putting emphasis on getting dressed any faster. I am so glad that I did go! The pastor ended up telling me that he saw in my heart everything that I was going through and every burden that I was carrying... And that God wanted him to let me know that everything was about to change for the  best for me. I don't usually talk about my problems to anyone, but when he told me this I felt so much better. I actually have some plans in the works that will hopefully make me and Trey's lives a little better and easier. I felt like yesterday I received confirmation that everything would be ok! On top of that I had a LONG overdue heart to heart conversation with someone that needed to hear everything I said. Even though I know that situation will never change, I feel like I can live with it a little better since I said what was on my mind.

All in all I had a great weekend, even though I didn't pick up my biology book at all when I should have LOL. I hope the weekend pours into the week, and this goes good as well. I"m asking everyone to do something different and go out of your way to make someone else smile this week. You never know what that could do for the other person! Check out my positive song for the day as well below, "I Smile" by Kirk Franklin. This song makes me feel soooo good! During church yesterday, I had already told myself that I was going to play this song as soon as we let out... guess what? It was already on the radio as soon as I got in my car! Crazy right?? If you're ever feeling down throughout the week, play this song and I'm sure it will help!

Happy Father's Day!!

First of all I'd like to wish a Happy Father's Day to all the real men out there who work hard to take care of their children!! Sadly not enough men own up to their responsibilities as fathers,  leaving many children to grow up in single parent homes or with someone else altogether. Having a father around is so essential to a child's life, so every man should WANT to take good care of their children so they can be better people when they grow up. In honor of the great fathers out there, I found some pics of celebrity dads spending time with their kids either out and about or at red carpet events. I love seeing fathers spending time with their children, it warms my heart... Check below for pics of  some true "bosses" below!

Happy Father's Day!!

My Style Might Body Ya

One thing that I have quickly become obsessed with this spring/summer is the cross body bag purses. I am in love with these! I think they really can make an outfit "pop" as long as you have one that looks good with your whole ensemble. Cross body bags are basically another form of accessory, so don't over power it with too much. The whole point in wearing one, would be to draw attention to it... not to everything but the bag. I would keep it simple like Kim K and Zoe Saldana did in the above pics. Below I've listed some cute cross body bags that might catch your eye. Would you wear one??

Throwback Thursday "The Thong Song"

"Daddy, what's this??" ^_^

Now ya'll know you can't even front on "The Thong Song"! This was like THE song of the summer back in 2000 hands down. I must say I was heartbroken when Dru Hill broke up for those few years, but Sisqo brought it while he was solo. I loved this song, I was like 11 when it came out lol. Never wore a thong in my life, but the song made me dance! Every summer I went to the beach with my dad, and our bond was music. We always compared (and still do) which songs we thought were the hottest at the time. Back then "The Thong Song" was one, and the next year Sisqo followed up with yet another hit... "What They Really Want" with DMX.

"What They Really Want" was also a summer banger, hell I still bump this to date lol. The one thing I remember when I hear this is how my mom thought she was the business because DMX said her full name in the song IN ORDER... "Felecia, Dawn, Lashawn, Inez, and Alicia" My mom's name is Felecia Dawn, so it was actually pretty dope that he dropped her full name even if it wasn't really for her lol. I thought it was so cool how both of my parents liked the same types of music that I did despite the age difference. Music plays an important role to me in so many ways, and I can connect just about every song with a memory. Anyway, check out the video for The Thong Song" above, and "What They Really Want" below. Music Is Life.

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 15

Wednesday, June 15

Ok, so I was supposed to be posting up my previous Diaries.. *I KNOW, I KNOW Don't be mad I had a stressful week. I needed to recover. * I will post them soon, so you can catch up my friend! Today I am GREAT. As I type to you guys about my workout.. I am trying to compose myself. Why?I am watching R. Kelly: The Light It Up Tour.#enoughsaid, right? OMG, this man, I have been a fan for too long, I been a fan when I shouldn't have been a fan, you feel me!? But from a very young age *no pun intended* I was captivated by his voice, his music. Whew, I think I just burned 500 calories, from thinking about it. Who can top this man? He is a musical genius. His talent can captivate anyone. If you aren't a fan, who have you been listening to...Trey Songz???

This morning I started off being very productive. I did some intern work and I popped my Vanilla Slim Fast Shake. Ok, let me explain it wasn't a Slim Fast it was an imitation, it was EQUATE! from Wal Mart!! Don't Judge ME!! Anyway, after I drank that , yumm and it was so delish, I ate some Special K! Red Berries cereal! I finished doing intern things and then after I left that, I ran some more errands and I had time to stop and get the REAL SLIM FAST because I had finished my equate!

At about 3:30 I went to the track! Walking gets me so excited! I can't tell if I am losing, but I have to be losing something because mentally and physically I feel light. I feel inspired, and energetic, and I imagine myself transforming into something even more beautiful than I already am! That's what you have to do! I was switching my pandora around again, listening to R & B and Gospel, but so what? The music that I was listening to was pumping me up and helping me feel good and optimistic. "Encourage Yourself" came on Donald Lawrence radio station, and that helped a lot. You do have to encourage yourself. You have to visualize what you want to do in life, you have to create your future, write it out, meditate on it, Trust God with it, and watch him give you the necessary resources you need to implement the changes! I can see myself in the future. I am getting rid of my careless eating lifestyle, and in turn, I am going to still enjoy the foods I like, but I am going to be a little more open to trying out healthier cuisines for myself! I am falling in love "all over" again with myself! :)

Later, I made Dominique cheeseburgers and French Fries, and it did not even look appealing to me. I baked my chicken tenderloins, almost mechanically at this point, and prepared a side salad!

I also drank 3 bottles of water! Remember, if you drink at least 3 16oz bottles that is 8 glasses a day! I am trying to stick with that also! I haven't had a Mountain Dew, and I haven't relapsed! "ITS A MIRACLE!"

Well, R. Kelly has gone off now! I mentioned via twitter after I worked off a sweat, that I was going to need some 12 play! I had walked from 3:30 to 5:45 that has to be like 30 miles I walked. :)Kidding! Dominique suggested that I be harder on my body starting tomorrow. I am going to do the boot camp ON DEMAND and see what that does!

Check out my playlist again, if you need suggestion while walking:

Toni Braxton

Brian McKnight

Donald Lawrence

Serani

R.Kelly

Paul Morton

Definitely wasn't no Trey Songz on my playlist! *Sorry Ladies* But I am LOYAL to the R.

:) Any suggestions on any simple workouts????

Look of the Day: Bitchie Style

Necole Bitchie & Derek Luke

On Monday night, Necole Bitchie hosted a small party for different bloggers in LA for the screening of Hawthorne. Necole has been doing big things, and if I'm not mistaken she just recently relocated to Los Angeles. She is such an inspiration to me, knowing where she came from lets me know that my journey through life is just beginning. On another note, her outfit that night was sick! I'm waiting on her to post info about her look on her website, but until then I've listed items that will give you the same look with different pieces. Check out what I found below and let me know what you think.

SN: Ya'll should really consider watching this season of Hawthorne! I missed The Voice, Toya Carter, AND The Braxtons last night fooling with Hawthorne and this is my first time getting into it. It comes on Tuesday nights at 10 pm on TNT.

Jojo Remakes "Marvin's Room"

Who remembers when sultry pop singer Jojo first stepped on the scene back in 2004? That was back when she came out with the hit single "Leave (Get Out)" at only 13. She also had a hit with Bow Wow called "Baby It's You" and a single called "Too Little Too Late". I've always been a big fan of her, especially after seeing the video of her singing SWV's "Weak" a capella. Well now she's all grown up and I hear she has an album coming out later this year. She just did a remake of Drake's new single "Marvin's Room" which you can check out below. I also posted the link to Drake's version of the song. Which are you feeling more?? Do you think Jojo will make a major comeback? I think she'll be fine because she's always had her own style and she's definitely one of a kind in the music industry. Not only that, but she can actually sing with no gimmicks... Let us know what you think!

What About Your Friends?

Did anyone else watch Basketball Wives last night? (SN: LOL at their faces ^^^!) From the looks of my twitter timeline I think everyone did lol. One of the things that blew me the most was when Jennifer got upset with Royce for following her ex Eric on twitter and for tweeting him! First of all twitter is a public social network and the conversations between Eric and Royce were public to all their followers. She then went on to say that anything could have been said between them in DM's (direct messages for those of you hiding under a rock with no twitter lol)... Evelyn even agreed that she would never have done that, and for obvious reasons. Jennifer and Evelyn are best friends, Royce and Jennifer don't even get along or hang together. So why is Jennifer mad??

Summer Item of the Day

The BeBe Floppy Chain Hat is the perfect accessory to add to your wardrobe for the summer. I recommend that everyone get a cute straw hat for this season because they can make anything look extra chic and flirty. If you're going to the beach or pool, or just shopping or running errands, try adding one to your outfit and see how it works for you. These are especially cute on the beach with saronges , bathing suits, and dresses and skirts. The Floppy Chain Hat is extra unique because of the color. They come in hot pink, yellow, or black, and have a chain around the hat with a heart at the end. Not bad for $29.00 from Bebe! Will you be rocking one this summer??

Positive Mondays

Happy Monday!! Another week has begun and I am SLEEPY! I called myself going to bed after the game last night, but then I couldn't sleep so I stayed up watching ESPN for awhile until I finally drifted off. When it was all said and done I ended up with like 5 hours of sleep lol. I can't even complain too much because I had a three day weekend. For the past three days, I've done absolutely nothing more than what I wanted to do. Basically I said bump everything, and made the weekend for myself. I also had a babysitter ALL weekend. Wait what?? Lol! So needless to say I did have a good weekend, and had time to relax. I also got a little shopping done with my best friend yesterday, so I have no complaints this morning! Hopefully this week will fly by and my weekend will come back to me soon :) I hope everyone has a great day as well as week, and always keep it bossy never basic!

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 7

Written Wednesday, June 8

Today I feel a lot better!! Way Better! Not completely back to myself, but close enough. I ran out of Slim Fast!! I had a lot of errands to run too so there was no way for me to stop and re-up on my "work" :). Instead though, I drank 4 Bottles of water, ate almonds, as I completed some intern work. I met up with the lady at Barnes & Noble, for a fashion show venue. It's going to be nice, and I'll give you more info on that LATER. After hours there, I ran some more errands and close to the evening, I stopped at the store to buy some chicken legs. I re-upped on my slim fast, but decided to hold off until the next morning for breakfast. I got home and I was pooped. All work, and no play. That has to be some calories burned up there, right?

I realized today, that all I eat is chicken. (No I KNEW THIS A LONG TIME AGO) But, I mean really! Besides the junk that I eat, all I eat is chicken. I don't eat fish, except for shirimp and crab legs, and I only eat that rarely! I was running out of healthy things to eat, well the things that I like consists of the same things! I was going to have to spice it up quick before I got discouraged! I looked around, and suddenly I knew what to do.

I fried 4 pieces of chicken for Dominique, and then I made a pasta salad with the wheat noodles that I had. Except, I did it really different. Instead of the Italian dressing, I had some italian seasoning left over from a recipe that I NEVER tried! lol. I put that lightly over the noodles once cooked, and I sturred the rest of the noodles with a basil paste that I had. I cut up tomatoes and olives inside and then I sauteed my squash and zucchini and cut it up inside the pasta. I let the pasta cool in the fridge. Next I baked my chicken seasoning it with spike, some more of that basil that I had and pepper. I also opened up a can of Fresh Cut Green Beans and let them boil. Since everything was pretty much done before my chicken, I made Dominiques plate first. It looked delicious! I sprinkled parmesan cheese lightly over the pasta salad. I added salt and pepper to m green beans for flavoring. I wanted to try his, and he acted like it was the best thing since sliced bread! (I DO THIS!) I held out, because I couldnt wait to try mine, the remix. When it was time for my chicken to come out, it was so tender falling off the bone! I made my plate all fancy and pretty!! It was delicious. Greens, are very good for you! Remember that! I switched it up a little bit. Now I am unsure of how the pasta fits into my diet, but the squash, zucchini, and wheat noodles have to make up for something right??? RIGHT!

I didn't do much exercise, but I was feeling good! I was feeling great! I also drink water with my meal!

Want to do what I did??? Great, it's simple:

  1. Get you a pack of chicken legs. (I got it with the skin on)

  2. Wash the chicken legs really good.

  3. Preheat the oven at 350 Degrees.

  4. Season them with whatever seasoning floats your boat. Lemon pepper is really good.

  5. I seasoned mine with Spike! and pepper and basil in a jar.

  6. I personally wrap my chicken up in aluminum foil, twice. That keeps the juices tightly secured so that it starts to marinate in its own juices.

  7. Place the chicken on a pan in an oven and let cook for about an hour and thirty. Or until tender like you like it.

Pasta Salad:

  • Get you wheat Pasta noodles. The crinkly kind, not the spaghetti kind!

  • Get a pack of Italian Seasoning. NOT THE ITALIAN DRESSING

  • Boil The Noodles, adding a pinch of salt for tenderness. Boil for 15 min, or until noodles are done.

  • Drain Noodles, Wash Noodles, Drain Noodles.

  • Add whatever veggies you like: Green Pepper, cucumber, tomato, asparagus. You Like it? Throw it in!

  • Get the Basil paste in a jar. Add about Two tablespoons and stir and coat the noodles in it. Do that until you like the flavor. Sprinkle Italian seasoning, lightly, and don't use all of it. We are trying to be healthy after all.

  • Sprinkle Parmesan cheese lightly over the top if you like!

  • Let cool inside fridge, or if you like it the way it is go for it.

Green Beans: I prefer french cut or fresh cut when I make them. (That is, opening up the can and putting them in the pan)

  • Add salt, and pepper.

  • Keep on stove until nice and hot for you!

Whew! Now I need a drink!

Muah:)

Throwback Thursday- Why Don't We Fall In Love

How hot was this song in the summer of 2002?! Amerie had everybody singing about falling in love with this track, then with Luda on the remix she even had the men listening to it too! I LOVED this song, and especially loved the summer vibe of the video... I remember this came out in the summer after my 7th grade year. I was only 13 and that was the year my favorite cousin was killed, so music was my outlet then. I can just about guess the year correctly for every song that came out at that time.

I remember when Amerie first stepped on the scene, she had all this buzz around her because she was gorgeous and could actually sing. I wonder what happened to her? If I'm not mistaken she's engaged or married to her manager (don't quote me). What memories does this song bring back for you?? Let us know!

Ring The Alarm

Costume jewelry has been big for years now, but when I was younger I thought it was the worst! Back then everything was bulky and made from plastic, however times have definitely changed. The costume jewelry now is so dope! These accesories from today help make an outfit. I love how there are so many varieties and all jewelry designers have their own style. I'm a big fan of costume jewelry from Betsey Johnson, Forever21, Guess, Bebe, and more. My favorite jewelry accessory (besides earrings) is rings. They really catch my attention because of all the small details and attention it takes to make them. Check below for some fashion forward rings that may catch your eye.

Basketball Wives' Crucial Earring Game

I had more than one person hit me up to ask about the earrings Evelyn and Jennifer had on in Monday's episode of Basketball Wives. With a little research I was finally able to locate both pair! I couldn't find a picture of Jennifer in her earrings from that episode, but they were the brown and tan chain feather earrings. Evelyn wore gold butterfly earrings that had chains coming down from the butterfly. Both Evelyn and Jennifer have also been seen in POParazzi's Amburr hoops, so I decided to check the price on those as well. I've listed all three pair below so check them out to get the scoop on where you can find them and how much they cost!

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 6

Written Tuesday June 8

Today was not a good day.

I didn't diet, I sulked.

It be like that sometime.

To Be Continued.............

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 5

Written Monday, June 6

Today was a great day!! I felt very productive! Very! I went to do some work for my internship and ran some very important errands but not before I cracked open my Strawberry Slim Fast Shake..ohh la la and in between all of the running I did I also drink my second Vanilla Slim Fast Shake. I went to the grocery store and picked up a pack of chicken tenderloins and some squash, zucchini, and brown rice. I was going to get it in.com when I got home! But when I was putting up the stuff that bought, I noticed that I still had some hamburger meat that needed to be fixed before it went bad. I didn't want to cook two meals at a time, but I did it anyway. I had all the right ingredients for baked spaghetti. Note: LaBellaBoss makes a GREAT baked spaghetti. But mine just so happened to be BETTER!!! :) I made that and I had wheat noodles too, by the way! I also had jalapeno cheese and american cheese and pepperonis that I layered it with!!! WHEW!!! SMACK MY MAMA! But OF COURSE, I know, I know I could not have any. But I did taste it, and what? I made it lol. In the process of all that, I washed my chicken breast tenderloins, "lightly" seasoned it, folded up in the aluminum foil and baked it, at 350 degrees. In the process, I cut up the squash and zucchini, and put 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a small frying pan. I put the contents in it and I sauteed them and stirred, adding a pinch of pepper, a little bit of salt, and some spike seasoning! Yes indeed, I stirred until they were good and cooked and laid them to the side until my chicken was done. I decided to hold off on the rice, I didn't really need it. Together, omg, that was so good and healthy! I bake chicken all the time though, but I never make squash and zucchini! Yall should get with this health kick. Some of this food, I eat, but cooking and adding my own little kick to it, I bring it!

Well afterwards, Dominique wanted to go play basketball, which was cool because I could go walk the track and play my tunes while he did so. So from about 4:30 to 7:30 I walked and walked and walked. That was so the peace of mind I needed. I was relaxed, I had pandora on, and I just let the sounds of the music move my hips as I power walked. It was soooo funny, for one, because I was dancing a little and probably singing TOO LOUD. I was praising God, Praying, grooving, clapping, moving my hips, ( I know it all sounds horrible, but i was switching between Genres) Get this though. Somebody called me right, and as I was walking around the court, some guy was like "You need to be calling me" and Dominique was on the other side of the court in his own world. I brushed it off, smiled, and attempted to make my next lap around, jamming. The second time I got to the court I was trying to make eye contact with my boo so I could blow him a kiss...but no dice! He was all up in that game! But ol' boy was still on the sideline gesturing me to come here! I busted out laughing!! I wasn't even looking all that( I didnt think so! But apparently!) Booty must be getting bigger or somen' :). I lapped it around again! I guess Niques game ended, because he was on the sideline while i was coming around. He stopped me, "Aye girl, do I know you?" I batted my eyes, and looked him up and down and was like "Nah boo, I don't think you do" He kept on trying to holler and ol boy from earlier says OUT LOUD!! "NAH BRO, THAT'S ME!" *passes out* Dominique turns around and says "Oh yeah? My bad dog, you got it" and laughed and walked back to the court, and before I could bust out laughing and SMACK Dominique at the same time, ANOTHER boy said, "Nawwww yo, that's me, I been trying to get her attention," and then Ol boy came running after me as I was RUNNING around the track to get away! Dominique is sooo trifling!! LOL. After asking me what i was doing there, and finding out that I came to exercise while my man was playing basketball he had the DUMBEST look on his face. I was like yeah, that's my man. He was like "Ohhh, Im going to fall back then!" I heard Dominique say, "You didn't stand a chance did you?" To him back on the court! MENNNNNNN!!! Sheesh! I swear, probably most like you other boss chics, I get a lot of attention when i feel I am not my best! Dudes crazy!

I was feeling myself, feeling my legs being worked out, my feet!? Ohhh my feet! Ok Yall are going to KILL ME, BASH ME, CRITICIZE ME, I TAKE IT!! I don't own a pair of tennis shoes! I don't!! This sounds so trifling of me too, but about a year ago, I wanted to go work out, and it was on a limb, and I wasn't near any shoe stores, but a ROSS, and I went in and I couldnt find any shoes in my size except for a pair of *PAUSES TO SHAKE HEAD* Pink and White FUBU shoes for $16.00. I copped them knowing I wouldn't see anybody I knew and worked out. After that, forgetting any morals about dieting and exercise that I had, I threw them THINGS AWAY(what?? Im picky) I havent had the urge to buy a pair of tennis shoes, because I don't wear them and because I was not serious about my weight journey (OBVIOUSLY) and now that I am, I was missing some tennis shoes terribly. Well not really, I had on gladiator flip flops that wasn't all the way flat. The ladies was hating on me, because I was not complaining about my feet, but one took the time to tell me how much I was going to pay for it later on in life! *Yeahhhh, but right now Youre in my way maam* NEXT!!! After walking, I was so energetic. I was able to go to my meeting that night, full of ideas, and full of optimism! MIAMI AIN'T TRYING TO SEE ME!!!

New Beyonce Single- Party feat Andre 3000

I know I'm gonna take y'all into Bey overdrive lol but she had another single to leak this morning and I couldn't resist posting it! This single gives me life! This is a straight summer hit, I can imagine blasting this with the windows down (and air on of course lol) or dancing to this at a summer night cookout #loveit... I don't know if I mentioned it before but I'm also a huge fan of both 3 Stacks & Yeezy so you know I'm loving thi. I'm glad Beyonce' made another R&B type track, reminds me of the Dangerously in Love album. Are you feeling this single? Let us know!

Do You Stay Prepped for the Paps?

Modern day technology allows us to keep up with our favorite celebrities like never before with the use of blogs and social networks. Since I'm always up on my celebrity gossip, this is something that I've grown to love. But on the other hand it has also become a growing pain. If you pay attention to blogs and pics of celebrities taken by the paparazzi, they are usually always on point. I mean from head to toe celebrity women step out without a hair out of place. This makes me wonder how many women actually take time to put on makeup and dress up every morning?

Back when I was reading Steve Harvey's book Straight Talk No Chaser, I remember him saying something about single women needing to dress up every day in case someone else is looking better. He said that women always needed to look their best when they leave the house if they're single, in case they run into a man who is a potential candidate for a partner. If you're looking good then there's no chance that he will be more physically attracted to someone else over you (we all know men think with their eyes first). Now I can see where he's coming from, but he's saying we need to dress up and look decent every where we go. I'm the type that will run to the store with my hair still wrapped and in sweats if I feel like it. And let me just tell you it seems like I get more compliments when I look a mess than when I look decent lol. I'm all for looking good for myself or looking good for a date and what not, and for the most part I do put together an outfit everyday. But when it comes down to making myself up to look nice just for potential men to notice men then I'm good.

I do know that lots of women wear makeup and dress up on a day to day basis though. I've never really been into makeup at all, but I've gotten better about wearing eye liner and mascara here and there to spice things up. Anything else in the makeup department is a no go for me unless it's a pretty lipstick or lip gloss. I've also realized that my definition of dressing up is different from others'. I consider it to mean wearing heels, you know a date material type outfit. I'll pull those out every now and then if I'm feeling myself that day, but for the most part I like to keep it simple (until the weekend lol).

Do you feel like single women need to look up to par on a daily basis so they won't miss out on the opportunity to "catch a man"? Do you dress up or wear makeup on a daily basis? There are a few people that I know who do, and I find myself looking forward to seeing what they're gonna wear every day... I love seeing how different people take pieces of fashion and make them their own. Leave us your thoughts below and check out a few paparazzi pics of some of the hottest celebrity women looking their best after the break!

Summer Trend... Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are THE MOST comfortable piece of clothes you could ever wear! I actually wore one today lol. These are huge in the summer because they keep you cool and they're easy to move around in. Not on that but that are majorly fashionable and have been spotted on many of your favorite celebrities.

When wearing these, always make sure you get the right size and that they fit properly. If they're too big they can take away from your figure, but if they're too small they can reveal too much. Check out some of my favorite maxi dresses that I spotted on some of my favorite fashion websites below. Are you a fan??

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 4

Written Sunday June 5

Well last night was sooo fun!!! I do love the "sauce" so I am unsure how well that coincided with my body but OHHHHH WELLLLL!!!!!!! Today was a good day. I woke up and popped open my Vanilla Slim Fast Shake!! My daddy made breakfast and "taught" me how to scoop up the nasty part of a Nasty egg and eat it.. yeahhhh idk if I am going to be eating that though. I am just now starting to try and appreciate scrambled eggs, so I need to take it slow. He also made bacon and he cut up potatoes and fried them. Yummmm, my Daddy is such the Chef!! lol I guess my mouth was watering(not really i was good) but he made me a small portion of everything and a half a strip of bacon and told me I was good. *he is after all, an unofficial trainer* SO I ATE THAT!!!!!! Afterwards I just chilled around the house. We actually left early from our hometown, ha, and if you know us, pahahahaha thats a joke to say we leaving earlY!!! hEe hee! I hadnt ate anything at that point and to be honest I was starving! I am so serious! I was starving.. if they wouldve bought anything fattening to my face, I probably would've ate it. But I didn't I opened up my second Slim Fast Shake, strawberry!!! Then I stopped at Mcdonalds again and ordered a Southwest Grilled Chicken Salad, WITH BALSAMIC DRESSING :) Yummy!!! Then it was time for the road!! I was good on the road, I drunk a bottle of water, and when we got home after three hours, I went to Wendys and ate another side salad. I missed my cousins after after party cookout! But it was a probably a good thing. All of those different foods .. I didn't need it. I came home, and Dominique spotted me while I did 30 crunches. He ate a pizza from Lil' Caesars. He had some buddies stop by and I offered them pizza. Dominique was looking at me like I was crazy!! But i was strategizing. See I know he would probably only eat 4 slices! Then there would be 4 left, and I was not about to get tempted! Lol. I had to do what i had to do to get those things outta there!! But I was really tired by the end of the night so I called it in early. Feeling very proud of myself. Tomorrow, I promised to go walking before my intern meeting and to also cook! (pahaha its been so long since i've done that it seems)

Alls well that ends well :)

Anyway it's Monday again and I almost put myself in a bad mood this morning b/c I didn't want to get out the bed lol. However I ended up turning on the radio while getting ready for work which put me in a good mood. You know radio personalities are always joking around and acting a fool, so it's definitely a good way to start a long day.

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 3

My Cousin Graduated From Magna Vista High C/O 2'11!!Saturday, June 4

My cousin graduated High School Today!! Gooooooo Cousin!! I was so proud of her. Actually, I had plan to go to Martinsville that weekend for the graduation, and then I thought about my budget! I had decided early that I was going to have to pass. But it was bothering me so bad!! I weighed out my options and sacrificed. On a limb, me and Dominique were hitting the road at 9:30. I may miss the graduation, but I wouldn't miss the family time that followed! !!! I was going to make it just in time for us to go out to eat! Only, I would have to be selective about what I ate. That was fine! Grabbed my Slim Fasts for my temporary vacay and my blueberries!

Boss Chic Diaries: Quick Fix Day 2

WRITTEN FRIDAY, JUNE 3

Soooo today I was super duper hype about the diet. I could feel myself slimming down already!! (state of mind, guys lol) I was ready, I woke up went downstairs, popped the top on my strawberry Slim Fast Shake, and sipped!! To my surprise, Dominique wanted me to make him breakfast.(was that a joke?) To my advantage though, whenever it comes to me scrambling eggs, he is always over me, "teaching" me the right way to do them. Eventually he took over (as he always do) and that was a good thing. I didn't need to be tempted that early. But dig this, THEN he started throwing the ham, salt, pepper in the eggs, smh. THEN he went as far as to fry some red hots!!! Toasted the bread, spread light mustard on it, by the time he finished. I was shaking!! Ha Ha! But I held on. He offered me a forkful of eggs, but I turned them down PROUDLY!! Team A. Bad Boss!!!
Now at work that was a different story, lets not forget to mention that I had something irritate the mess out of me before getting to work. Well, at work we have a lovely lady that always spoils us with the best sweets and finger foods ever from various places in Richmond. As a side note, I am a sucker for Snicker bars and chocolate chip cookies. And she ain't brought us no goodies in about two weeks , now she want to show out! *The Devil, The Devil* but I prevailed, until Amy, my diet partner, opened the box up and acted like she was going to pass out. She says, "I don't think half a cookie will hurt, I'll split it with you." It was like I had no will power. I was like, "Okay girl!" lol and then she was like. "Nah, it's not worth it. Let's break a piece off and see." And we did. Umm.. it was so delicious to me, but Amy made a face. She was like, "Oh this isn't worth it, and threw it in the trash." I was in heaven. I was lying like a MUGGGG, when I told her, "You right!" and threw mine in the trash too! Ha Ha.. what??? (IM HUMAN! and most times when you are irritable you eat..Sweets) So I grabbed some blueberries and worked until break time.I called my Daddy (unofficial trainer) and he happened to be talking to another (official trainer). I was drinking my Second Shake (Vanilla this time) and thinking of a good snack to go with it. I couldn't tell if I was hungry, or if it was just in my mind. I have noticed that this is much like an addiction. You have to really take baby steps. I have been used to eating so much CRAP, basically, whatever it is that I want with no reserve, that it was truly a transition taking into account this healthy ish. But my Daddy suggested a side salad from McDonalds with a Balsamic vinaIgrette. I ordered, and ate. Oh My God!!! Where has Balsamic dressing been all my life? The salad was sooooo good! I got extra motivated! Not only that, the official personal trainer, that was in the background all in me and my Daddy's conversation told me EXACTLY what I needed to hear. That was: "You want to lose your stomach in 19 days, you need to listen carefully. Blueberries, Strawberries, raspberries, apples and oranges are stomach killers." Yep, but I had ate 10 blueberries, and she told me that was all the blueberries i needed for the day. *I didn't quite get that, but oh well.* I went back to work with my bottle of water and was happy!!!
That night, I had dinner at Applebees. I am telling you, normally when I go to the 'bees its for the "Sauce"(alcohol)and some junk food.(hot wings) Of course, Dominique ordered wings, and a beer, that was extremely HARD TO WATCH, and this is no lie, the hot wings had never looked better! But you know what, I prevailed. Boy, did I prevail. I ordered a grilled chicken, some mexican rice (which may or may not have been good for me) and some steamed vegetable. ( squash, zucchini, broccoli) I was satisfied WITH a good ol' water!! MY DADDY TOLD ME ASPARAGUS WOULDVE SET THIS OFF. According to him, it is a good fat burner. If he tell me one more time, that you can smell the asparagus when you pee.. im going to puke! LOL. ALSO, did you know watermelon burns fat too! The personal trainer told me that It certainly does, but I should stay away from it for now. *Why, I don't know. Do you?*
It filled me up, I was so PROUD OF MYSELF, and according to Applebees it was under 500 calories! Yeah, it was the second night. And your girl made it:)
Boss Chic Bout' Her Business!!

I would write more but I have a pain in my leg that's killing me!! My cousin graduates High School tomorrow. Congrats C/o 2011.

Boss Chic Diaries: In Need of a Quick Fix :) DAY 1

Soooo I am planning a trip to Miami with one of my fellow boss chics, BossLadiT. We have known about this trip for a year, and we only have 20 days until we depart!!!! I can not even explain how excited I am!! Fun, Sun, Drinks, Party, Sleep, eye candy, pool, bathing suits---Bathing Suits??? Yeahhhh, so I was supposed to lose weight 5 years ago! *runs and hide* and especially since the holidays, so that I could be well prepared for this trip. I envisioned me running to the pool, two-piece in tow, feeling like the boss chic I am. Now, dont get me wrong, I am SOOOO confident in myself, that it does not matter what the end result is, I will still go feeling bossy and beautiful.(it's in my genes) But, I set a goal and I need to for once not PROCRASTINATE. Well, since being Bossy is all about empowerment and self-fulfillment, nothing would be better to me right now then to lose a couple of pounds and say I actually did something and see some RESULTS!! However, I only have 20 days :( smh. So you know what I did, I consulted in two personal trainers. Amy (official personal trainer) and my Daddy(unofficial personal trainer) and as you can imagine, dieting in the way that I should, wont do much to me for Miami especially my stomach, the main thing I'm trying to kill. Are you serious? I couldn't stand to hear that yatta yatta, I had a trip to go to soon. I guess Amy got tired of me B******G and offered a quick fix for me. A STRICT SLIM FAST DIET! Um hum... I know, I know.

"Well what does this slim fast diet consist of?" That was my response lol. What? I like to EAT! But Amy proceeded to tell me that if I wanted to SEE some results I would have to commit to this SLIM FAST DIET, 2 Slim Fast shakes one for breakfast one for lunch, and commit to having a 500 calorie or less meal at night. NO ALCOHOL. But, I got her to approve 1 glass of wine a week. (This Boss Chic sips) I would also have to drink PLENTY of water, and do some vigorous exercise throwing healthy snacks in between. *rolls eyes*

So after I thought for about half a minute, I asked myself "what choice do i have?" It's me, and its Miami and I didn't have another choice. So I accepted the challenge! I actually got really excited about it. Amy agreed to do it with me for moral support. The great thing is, I haven't done any grocery shopping so I wont be tempted! So let's see :

Throwback Thursday- My Boo

It's finally about to be my favorite time of the year.... flip flops, ice cream, sunshine, hot weather, short shorts, sundresses, swimming pools, cookouts... well you get it lol. I absolutely LOVE the summer, I always have. It was only right that I post a video for #throwbackthursday that would bring the summer in right. I'm going to try to post a song every Thursday throughout the summer that might bring back old memories of the best season of the year. There's so many songs that remind me of summer time from my childhood and high school years. There's nothing like a good ride out song to blast with the windows down!

Watch the throwback video of the week above, "My Boo" by Ghost Town DJ's. This is one of my all time favorite songs! It makes me think of when I was younger, thinking I was doing something because my older cousin let me sit in her room and listen to the radio with her and her friends lol. I was literally a little girl and they were in high school so you know they were talking about boys and dating. I used to soak up everything they said lol. What memories do you have from this song?? Let us know!

Items of the Day

Normally I only do one item of the day, but this time every piece that I put together for this outfit stands out on its own. I would definitely rock each one with different things in my closet. Anyway it's pretty obvious that I'm a big fan of Jessica Simpson's shoe collections. I think her ideas are so fashion forward; she turns the most simple heels into works of art with minor details and colors. I love how she makes innovative heels that seem you would think are celebrity type expensive, but they're actually affordable. These Trixie sandals will run you about $90 which is average for her shoes.

I paired these with a Peach 70's Floral Jumpsuit and a Blue Floral Print Front Satchel, both from TopShop. For jewelry I would go for simple but big gold since this is a sort of 70's look. You can't go wrong with gold bamboo earrings, a thick gold chain, a gold ring or two and simple bracelets. For some reason, I think the hair would be best pinned up with this outfit. Maybe a long ponytail or a cute bun at the top to keep up the fun/flirty look. Check out the rest of the pieces below and let me know what you think!

SN: I also did a little bit of color blocking again with this one :)

VOTD: Man Down- Rihanna

How can you not love Rihanna's new video for her hit single "Man Down"?? She looks gorgeous throughout the whole video! I loved the story line as well as the message it gave. Too many women go through domestic violence issues and it goes ignored, so it's good that she incorporated that into the video and song. I also loved the island vibe of the video. The best thing about Rihanna is her island accent, it makes her stand out from the rest.

It's pretty obvious that I'm a big fan of Rihanna's fashion game, but I also love her as an artist in general. I think her personality really stands out and she seems down to earth. She's my celebrity best friend in my mind lol.  Check out the video for "Man Down" below and let us know what you think! SN: This song is my text messaging ringtone ^_^

Lil Wayne- How To Love

I know I'm a little late posting this song, but better late than never! I first heard this song a few days ago and immediately loved it. I love Wayne when he's not talking about a bunch of coonery lol. I love the beat of the song, but what got me were the lyrics. I felt like he was seeing right through me with those words... Are you feeling this song? Leave a comment with your thoughts!

New Music: Beyonce' Best Thing I Never Had

Ya'll know I LOVE me some Beyonce' lol, I was listening to The Breakfast Club on New York's Power 105 this morning when I heard her new single. It's supposed to be on her new album 4 and it's called "Best Thing I Never Had". She's singing about how not falling for this person was the best thing she ever did because she found out who he really was. I'm sure everyone can relate to that in some way.

When she first said she was going to be making her own genre of music, I didn't understand what she was saying. But after listening to her first three tracks, I understand now. This song has a mix of an R&B, pop, and rock feel. I love what she's doing! I'm really feeling this song too... But I guess you can say my opinion is biased lol. Check out her new song below. Do you think she has another hit??
