Video Of The Day

So I was in my car on my way to work, when BAM my local radio station 102 Jamz starts playing "Down Azz Chick" by Ja Rule and Charlie Baltimore! WHAT! Lol ya'll know I acted a fool in that car when I heard the beat drop! This used to be one of my favorite videos, and it kind of puts me in the mind of the movie "Waist Deep". Charlie Baltimore was probably my favorite from Murda Inc. I loved her "down for anything" persona, and her rhymes went hard. Do you remember this video? If not, check it out below! And even if you do, watch it anyway... it was pretty dope :)

SN: Charlie Baltimore is so pretty! And Ja was doing THE MOST with his hand movements and mug faces LOL! It's Murdaaaaaaa!

Throwback Summer Jam

Ooohhhh this song came out when I was in the 9th grade! Actually I think it was the summer after my freshman year in high school, back when all the local teenage parties were popping! Back then, we had parties EVERY Friday and Saturday night and no one ever got shot up like they do these days. I feel for the kids now because around my hometown they have nothing to do for fun, and every time they have parties something always goes down.

But I'm telling you back when I was in high school things were totally different. We stayed partying! This came out back when the "Chickenhead" dance was hot, and you can even see some of the girls in this video doing it lol. Whenever this would come on at a party, you could not pull me off the dance floor lol. Heyy what can I say, I like to Shake My Tailefeather ;-P

SN: I also included another summer video below... Someone played this other song for me on my voicemail once in high school, corny as can be I know lol but I still like the song!

Celebs In BodyCon Dresses

Since I just did a post on Forever21's bodycon collection I decided I might as well post pics of your favorite celebrities wearing similar looks so you can see how they take these dresses to the next level. Many celebs have been spotted wearing bodycon dresses and skirts, and majority of theirs come from designer Herve Leger. I LOVE his dresses! Just yesterday, Evelyn Lozada tweeted a picture of a Herve Leger bodycon dress that she will be wearing on the Basketball Wives Reunion. Check out some pics of your favorite celebs rocking bodycon dresses including the dress Evelyn tweeted yesterday!

BodyCon at Forever21

I'm pretty sure everyone is already up on these super cute bodycon dresses and skirts that all the celebrities are wearing. They're really tight and show off every curve on your body (hint: they're definitely not meant for everyone)... I'm not even sure I would wear one, I just think my hips are a LITTLE too big to be squeezing into a short and tight dress or skirt lol. However, I think these are perfect for lean/tall women, or even petite women. I was browsing the internet and noticed that Forever21 has a special section on their website just for bodycon pieces... and get this, they're all less than $30 and are as low as $5.50. You cannot beat that!

On that note, I decided to turn you guys on to some of my favorite pieces from their collection. If I'm not going to look cute in one, somebody else might as well! LOL.. You can basically wear the skirts any way you want, whether you dress them up or dress them down. They look really cute with lace blouses and tanks for a chic look, or you can dress them down by tucking in a button down shirt. Check below for some of my favorite bodycon pieces from Forever21 and check their website to get the full collection.

Also check below for a picture of my best friend rocking her bodycon skirt on her Miami trip... I swear no one has the legs to wear them like she does lol. It's also her 23rd birthday today so shout her out on twitter if you have one at @i_c_u_trixi!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIA!!

Knockin' The Boots

I don't know about anyone else, but I am ready to rock my boots this fall! I'm already searching my favorite websites to see which pair I'm splurging on this season lol. However, I am NOT ready for summer to be over in any way. I live for summer, I just hate dressing for it. It's hard trying to get cute and stay cool at the same time, which is why fall is my favorite season when it comes to clothes. So me being me, I decided to do a fashion post on how you can rock your boots in the summer time and still be cute and cool! I tried this look on the Fourth of July and I loved it! I love trying different things when it comes to my style, and I encourage everyone else to do the same! Above you can see Ciara is pictured with military boots, jean shorts, and a long crop top. Check below for how I chose to rock my military boots in the summer! There's also a similar outfit I pieced together with random items I found online as well. Let me know what you guys think!

Positive Monday

Good morning and happy Monday to everyone! It's time for me to get the blog back up and rolling, so we have to start our week of right... with Positive Monday! I know everyone hates Monday and you hate getting out of bed, but regardless make sure you thank the man above for allowing you to see another day. Without him, you definitely wouldn't be here.

Now I won't lie I am sleepy as idk what today, and I can't say that I didn't get plenty of rest this weekend. As a matter of fact that's pretty much all I did was lay around and rest. But for some reason I still feel like my body got ran over by a truck, I could definitely use a massage right now! However, I have lots to look forward to in the upcoming weeks. One reason is the end of this summer semester happens to be in two weeks (Thank ya Jesus! lol); and two being my 5 day vacation from work next month. I don't know what I'm doing or where I'm going during those 5 days, but at least I know I won't be at work! lol... on top of that I have some personal things to look forward to, don't wanna put it out there until everything is set in stone though! I'm also looking forward to celebrating my best friend's birthday with her this week. And on top of that my grandma will be turning 59 this coming weekend!! That's a blessing in itself. Trust me everything isn't peaches and cream, but there is always something to look forward to in life!

To leave you on a positive note for the week, just remember that everyone goes through SOMETHING at all times. No one's life is perfect, regardless of how it looks from the outside. Everyone has something that they're dealing with, sometimes even handling everything on their own. It's not about your struggles or your life story because everyone has one... the TRUE story comes with how you handle your situations. Those that keep pushing despite their struggles, are the ones that get the furthest in life. Take Missy Elliott and Mary J for example... On their episodes of Behind The Music, they shared how they went through THE MOST, but because they overcame everything and are standing where they are today makes their stories even more touching. Everything happens for a reason, take it and learn from it! Make sure you check below for my positive video for the day as well!

Time Waits For No One

What's up bosses and boss chics! I know ya'll are probably laying me out right now since I haven't posted in a week, but I have been super productive in other areas so please be patient with me. Your girl has been getting it INNN with her biology book for the past week lol, and it paid off because I got a B on my FOUR chapter test #whew! Sunday I also flat ironed my hair which hadn't been done in a good two months. It took me a whole three hours, and let me just say that won't be happening again for awhile unless I have a volunteer! lol...

I really wanted to just catch you guys up to speed with what's been going on with me for the past week. I feel like any time I don't blog, I owe my readers an explanation. I'm a big fan of celebrity blogs as you all know, and I start getting the shakes if my favorite websites don't update regularly! lol I'm joking but you catch my drift :) Anyway, I was sitting here trying to figure out how I could tie this blog with something a little motivational since I obviously missed Positive Monday and the thought of time popped into my head.

Throwback Thursday... It's Murdaaa!

I can't think of one single person who was not a fan of Murda Inc back in the day! What?? They were the ish! I LOVED THEM! I sound like a crazy, deranged fan lol but I was reallyyyy big on them back then. When Ashanti first hit the scene she was like the only female artist to top Beyonce' with her debut album during that time. And I don't care what anyone says, Ja Rule was the man until his beef with 50 started. Charlie Baltimore was my personal favorite over Vita, because the movie she got her name from was one of the illest movies ever! (If you watch The Long Kiss Goodnight with Samuel L Jackson and Gina Davis, you'll see where Charlie originated #gangsta)... Not to mention Chucks' red hair was EVERYTHING lol. But don't get it twisted because Vita was my girl too! So for today's #throwbackthursday, I posted the video for "Down 4 You" above, which was a true summer jam back in 2002. This was a feel good song, and the video gave even more of a summer vibe.

Were you a fan of Murda Inc? Do you have any specific memories from this song? Let us know! You can also check below for some throwback pics of Murda Inc!

SN: I wish music was like it used to be! *sad face*

Boss Chic Items of the Day

Are these not the cutest pair of shades?? I love the orange color and the shape of them! Big square sunglasses are my "thing"... and don't let me have my hair big and bushy, you can't tell me nothing! lol I'm going to be doing a sunglasses post when I have more time, but I wanted to give you guys the scoop on this pair. You can get them at TopShop for $25.39 which isn't bad at all. If you're big on matching your accessories, try out the Orange Metal Fastening Cross Body Bag below (also from TopShop) which will run you $39.50. Both items would be really cute with a maxi dress and cute sandals for a nice day at the beach!

Be The Change You Want To See!

Darius McMillan & Ronwyn Pritchett of FAME

I LIVE for seeing people doing positive things with their lives, especially when it comes to helping our youth. Not too often do you see young adults trying to make a difference, and even less often are they young men. I saw this in my local newspaper yesterday and couldn't help but to put out there what these young men are doing for the young boys in Richmond, VA.

I went to high school with Ronwyn Pritchett, he graduated two years after me. He went on to play football at the University of Richmond when he graduated, but suffered an injury that ceased his football career. He launched a mentoring group called Future American Men of Excellence (FAME) which targets 8th grade boys at a local high school in Richmond. Ronwyn and 24 young men mentor 15-27 8th grade boys twice a week, hoping to help them make good decisions for their futures.

Look of the Day

When I was looking up dresses for the last post, I couldn't help but find myself browsing through different things trying to piece together looks that I could blog about. Let me just say I LOVE Janelle Monae's look that she does with her tuxedos. I think it's really cute for women to do the whole tux and bow tie thing, but I definitely don't think I could pull it off. On that note, I decided to create a look that would tie in both the masculine feel of the tuxedo with a feminine twist. Since this is a pretty classic concept, I would pair either pearls or some type of studs with this and keep it simple. Check below for what I came up with.

I Want...

Jessica Simpson Vadio's
$99.00

If you remember a few weeks ago, I did a post on these Jessica Simpson pumps but instead of turquoise they were purple, yellow, and pink. Well these with the turquoise just recently came out and I love these even better! The colors flow so well together, and the colors compliment each other well. If I don't get me a pair asap I'm going to scream! Lol maybe not scream, but I won't be satisfied until I get them. There is also a similar pump in the collection called the Bendie sandal, and I like those as well. Check out the Bendie's below as well as a couple of dresses that would really set these off. Let me know what you think!

Positive Mondays!

Me & my little cousin Talea.. Hadn't seen her in almost 2 years!

Happy Monday!! I woke up feeling EXTREMELY positive today and rightfully so! First of all I woke up this morning! There are so many people in this world who will not see today, but I am here. I'm at my decent paying job, and even though I don't really CARE for it, there are so many people who have no job at all. Those same people also have children to feed, bills to pay, and need money to live on just like me. So I am blessed to be here another day and to have a good job!

Remember last weekend was my family reunion on my dad's side? Well this weekend I had a few family members from my mom's side to come in town that I hadn't seen in awhile. I LOVE FAMILY! There is never a dull moment, and this weekend was so much fun. We cooked out both Friday and Saturday, and my aunt cooked this delicious Sunday dinner. And on top of that everyone got along great, and had a good time just catching up and vibing to good music.

We Are Family

I know, I know... I've definitely been slacking this week on the Boss Chic Files smh, but I was busy enjoying all the 4th of July festivities and time with family. To make up for it I thought I would recap my weekend and holiday because it was just that epic! :-P

First of all the family reunion for my paternal grandfather's family was this weekend. Now this is the one side of my family where I really don't know anyone except those that still live in our hometown. Every year they had family reunions in the past, I was always gone to the beach with my mom's family for our annual beach house trip. Anyway, I wasn't initially thrilled about giving my 4th of July weekend away to distant family that I didn't know because I thought everyone would be much older than myself. I got fooled! I met different cousins that I didn't even know I had and they were mostly right around my age. Also one of my cousins from Ohio came home, whom I hadn't seen in at least 12 years (Crazy right??) If you know me, you know I get so excited about meeting different family members because I think it's so cool to see how differently we all grew up. Needless to say, I knew the weekend was going to be a good one after all.
