The Right To Choose

Did the most take place in the season finale of The Game or did THE MOST take place?? I don't think I'm alone when I say I was disappointed in the way the season ended. I feel like the finale left us all hanging without a clue of where any of the characters stand. For instance, Jenay never even came back in any episodes after confronting Derwin about leading her on. Kelly never came back from her vacation she took, so where does that leave her and Jason?? And when the show ended, the Sabers had taken in a new quarterback so where will Malik fit into the show? So many questions and so little answers!

At the beginning of the episode, Melanie was standing in the bathroom looking in the mirror when she was joined by Derwin. She obviously had something on her mind, but when Derwin asked what was wrong she said nothing. After much pressure, she revealed to him that she was still obsessing over the fact that she wasn't pregnant yet. Derwin told her that she didn't have a reason to worry, but agreed to go see a fertility specialist to make her feel better. Meanwhile the two love birds had a business meeting with Derwin's manager Tasha, who revealed that she would be managing Malik's career again. Once Tasha left, Derwin expressed to Melanie that he didn't want Tasha representing Malik because she would always put Malik's career before his own. Melanie reminded Derwin that Tasha was part of the reason his career advanced so much, but after being persuaded she agreed to talk to Tasha about managing Malik.

While Derwin plotted to keep Tasha out of Malik's business ventures, she was in the process of videoing Malik talking to fans when she saw her supposedly cancer stricken lover Bo. Now I had this strong feeling last week that he was full of bs, but DANG come to find out he has two kids and a wife!! O_o He tried to apologize to Tasha for lying, but she wasn't having it. She cut him short and let him know that the old Tasha would've shot him, his wife and his kids lol but because he taught her to not sweat the small stuff, she just told him to have a nice life and kept it moving. I was so proud of her for handling that in a classy way, rather than going her usual ghetto route. Regardless of if he screwed her over, I think it was meant for Tasha to meet Bo. Clearly he made her open her eyes and change her ways, and the wife is the one who's stuck with the liar so why even be mad. Go Tasha!

After Malik had met with his mom/manager, he went to catch up with Jenna on the set of a photo shoot she was doing. He tried to win her back, but the fool revealed to her that he was the one who had the photo shoot set up just so he could see her. Now I don't know about anybody else, but if you thought I was mad at you before, wait and see how mad I am if I find out you messing with my money #hmph. Jenna being the strong willed girl that she is, passed on Malik's advances and left the set before he could say anything else.

Now going back to Derwin, as I stated before he was feeling some type of way about Malik being managed by Tasha in fear that it would interfere with his own career. Well not only was he blocking in that area, but he even pulled some strings to get a new prospective quarterback to take Malik's place on the team. He knew that the new QB was a big fan of Jason's, so he asked Jason to join the two of them for dinner to convince the new guy to join their roster. At first Jason wasn't having it because he knew Derwin was trying to top his records from his starting days, but once the new QB revealed that he was a huge fan of Jason's, the flattery went to Jason's head and he was more than willing to do the convincing. Towards the end of the episode, the new quarterback did a press conference to announce his choice to join the Sabers. (And he threw Malik under the bus in his speech, which turned me OFF). While there, Jason spotted his old flame Camille and decided to ask her out for dinner. However, after the press conference Camille met the new quarterback as he was coming off stage and embraced him in a kiss. Ha Jason just knew he was about to get back in good! #fail -_-

My favorite part of the whole episode was definitely the end when Melanie called Tasha over to talk to her about managing Malik. Melanie told Tasha she thought it would be best for her to focus more on Derwin than Malik. Melanie then said they had "mad love" for Malik, but it would take a miracle to turn his career around. When Tasha realized that Mel was asking her to choose between the two, she gave Melanie just what she needed... cursed her out real nice! Melanie reminded Tasha that she was always there when Tasha had men problems, but Tasha said it wasn't about men it was about her money. Melanie got bold and told Tasha that "her druggie son was done" and then fired Tasha... SAY WHAT!? Tasha got her stuff to leave but not before throwing something at Melanie and calling her a "fake ass". After this scene, I don't even know how I will feel about Derwin and Melanie anymore... "It's funny how money changes situations" *Lauryn Hill voice* #justsayin...

Right before the end, Malik was at home bowling with Tasha and watching the press conference for the new quarterback. At that moment, Jenna pulled up to his home and he raced outside to greet her. However, Jenna had clearly taken a step back and was high off some type of drug. After she implied that she was a "fake model" with no real gigs (thanks to Malik setting her up with a fake photo shoot), Malik carried her into the house hopefully to help her get her life together again.

At the very end of the episode, Melanie and Derwin went to meet with a doctor to figure out why it is so difficult for them to conceive a baby. The doctor asked Melanie a series of procedural questions, but when she was asked if she ever had an abortion she said "Definitely not". Funny thing is, when Melanie lies she says "definitely" and Derwin caught on to this quickly. So when the doctor left the room, he asked "So the abortion... was it mine?" And then the show has the nerve to go off... You mean to tell me Melanie got an abortion before and didn't tell Derwin?? DAMN YOU BET!! LOL

I can't wait until next season to figure out what will happen with Mel and Derwin, Kelly and Jason, and Malik and Jenna. This is too much to take! We need a new season like tomorrow smh... This season didn't end like I expected it to at all, but it was still very good nonetheless. I wish the finale would have given us more closure or clues on what to expect in the future. I guess we'll have to be patient and see! Let us know what you thought about the finale by leaving a comment below. Guess I'll get my fix of The Game through reruns until the new season starts ^-^

  1. Excellent post! I must say that I'm glad they left us hanging. That's what season finales do. It makes u want to watch next season. You'll get closure on the Series finale...and we don't want closure lol the way the season started they kinda needed an ending like this to keep our interest sparked.

  2. You did an awesome job recapping the finale and capturing all my feelings about it! First off, I knew Bo was full of shit too.. but I still liked him because he didn't hurt Tasha.. well he cheated on his wife(disgusting) but he taught her things and showed her a good time, and allowed her to let her guard down and live life. He was kinda like an angel in disguise(idk if i should use the word Angel..but u get it lol) Idk how i felt about Derwin and Melanie in the end either because Melanie was WAY out of line for coming off at Tasha.. it was so much wrong with that I can't even fathom it all. *bad move Mel* and Derwin as well. I'm big on Morals and Loyalty, and her and Derwin were definitely changing and becoming more and more selfish by the minutes in this episode. Tsk Tsk! But I agree with you a lot of things were left unanswered..and im ready for the next season yesterday! :)
