Kyla Pratt Blogs About Her Daughter

Last night I was reading Necole Bitchie's blog and stumbled across a statement that Kyla Pratt had released concerning her one year old daughter, Lyric Kai. I'm not sure if you all knew this, but Kyla had a baby girl last year around this time by her boyfriend, Danny Kirkpatrick, and released this info publicly on 106 & Park a few weeks ago. Since then, she has been receiving lots of negativity from the media as well as the public. She decided to take to her tumblr page to respond to all the hate she has been getting lately.

In her statement she basically said that she kept her pregnancy and her child away from the media for the specific reason that she knew she was going to get criticized by the public. She mainly received a lot of heat for the fact that her daughter's father used to be a stripper. In her response to the public, she made clear that he was not the type of stripper who actually loses all of his clothes, and this was a job from his past that he only worked for a short time. She also made clear that in no way was she trying to defend herself, just stating facts about what the media claimed to have known about her. She then let it be known how much love she has for both her daughter and her boyfriend, and that they were happy regardless of what anyone thinks.

I've always had these big dreams of being famous for something one day, but I've always wondered if I would ever be able to handle the life of a celebrity. I mean people were saying horrible things about her on blogsites just because she had a baby out of wedlock, which millions of women do every year all over the world... same thing I did four years ago. Now in no way am I saying that this is right, but I don't feel like the rest of the world should have the authorization to judge anyone in this situation or anyone at all for that matter. It's one thing to give your opinion about someone's actions, you have a right to that... but once you try to force your opinion on everyone else and make that person seem less respectable then you're making judgements that you have no right to make.

I've always been a fan of Kyla Pratt's since Dr. Doolittle and Love & Basketball days... of course mainly because people say she's my celebrity twin lol. But I really feel her on this situation she's in. I've been there before in the same shoes, being judged and looked down upon for a decision I chose to make with MY life. In no way am I encouraging any young, unmarried women to go out and have a bunch of babies so don't take it as such. What I AM saying is that just because we are young doesn't mean that we need to feel ashamed about it, nor do all of us neglect our responsibilities. People have this stereotype that young single mothers are irresponsible and careless. I am neither, and from the looks of it neither is Kyla.

I respect her so much more for releasing this statement... I love to see people stand up for themselves and what they believe in. The public can be so harsh and judgemental at times, not really considering all the facts or anyone's feelings. You can check out NecoleBitchie.com for the full blog from Kyla Pratt's tumblr if you'd like, and there's also a pic below of Kyla's precious daughter Lyric. Do you agree that the public/media are too hard on people? Don't you think people can be very hard on young mothers, when sometimes we do better than the older ones? #ThatsLife

  1. I agree with you 100% older folks forget that some stuff was back in their days and things have really changed. If we wait to have kids until we are married a lot of generations would have stoped at 2 and most of us wouldn't be here.

  2. Public opinion is just that...an opinion. What you people have to do today is guard as much privacy as possible into their lives. Social Media is the highway to judgement and when our personal lives become a running journal, it will be judge.
Cookie Jean has told me time and time again, shut your mouth and let your actions speak louder than you words. I didn't listen much, but she told me :-)

  3. What trips me out the most, is there was so much going on w/ a lot of the older people. There is nothing new under the sun and the bible talks about that. The difference now is that the younger generation is more bold with theirs. I don't think any of it is right, but neither is living judging others.

  4. What people need to understand is everyone has their own definition of right and wrong in every situation. Different people are brought up in different ways and experience life differently. You can't expect someone to think exactly like you because no two people are alike, nor are two life stories completely alike. It's all about respecting others and giving others the freedom to live as they please without judgement. I think if we all could just keep that in mind, we all would be a little more accepting of others and their lifestyles.

you're using? I'm going to start my own blog soon but I'm having a hard time making a decision between BlogEngine/Wordpress/B2evolution and Drupal. The reason I ask is because your layout seems different then most blogs and I'm looking for
